3k miles in, great car so far.
Bought a white Platinum for my wife. At first I did not want this car. I wasn't to big on the body change and powertrain. I really expected Nissan to pump out more than 300hp and 261 torque. The Nismo edition is supposed to have 325hp - 298 torque, we'll see how it does. But I went to the dealership, sat in one, played around with the controls then test drove.. I ended up trading in my 2012 SV model (I made reviews on here before - Maximus12). I can tell the CVT has improved. It does feel slightly faster than my 2012 model, this one will get up and go. The seats are more comfortable. The center console does sit a little high but part of that design was so you rest your arm on it and use the center menu buttons and control wheel comfortably while driving. The technology in this car is great. 4 cameras, lane departure sensors, accident prevention sensors, music over bluetooth. The lighting inside wood panel at night looks pretty neat. I would say Nissan did well with this redesign. I did read the other reviews on here and seeing others having issues with their moon roof and memory seating. I will say our memory seating is not working. We'll save our settings for drivers 1 and 2 then the next day, neither button works. I will be addressing this to the dealership. No issues with moon roof yet. Hopefully none. One thing for you guys to watch out for- our model has lighter tan leather (I would say more white than tan) and my wife's jeans are turning the leather blue. These are not cheap Wal Mart jeans either. Purchasing some leather cleaner from Advanced Auto Parts or Auto Zone removes the blue. Not sure what that is about.. We have a 4runner with tan leather seats and it does not happen in there. Overall we're happy with the car. I will post again around 10k miles.

Perfectly Pleased with my Platinum
I did extensive research and compared many other models in this class and price point. The 2016 Maxima Platinum is hands down the best value in terms of design, quality and performance. Even the pro reviewers who criticize the CVT, still have overall positive comments about the performance and handling. I got a year end sale and saved about 6k all in. I'm thrilled with this car and will keep it a long time.

First Nissan
I traded a Chevy Tahoe in for my Maxima Platinum. This is the first car I have owned since high school (I am 68). I am very impressed with this car. Believe me I did a lot of research and drove several vehicles before buying this car. I actually went to the dealer to look at a smaller suv, when I saw the Maxima I was really impressed with the body style and all the features on the Maxima Platinum. One of my main concerns was road noise, I told the salesman that if the car had road noise I was not interested. After driving, I was completely sold on this car. For the price, you will not find a classier sedan.

Very impressive
I bought my Maxima 3.5 SL on 8/31/15. Love this car there is enough power for a 300hp engine it's a blast with putting in Sport mode. It is comfortable with zero gravity seats like panoramic sunroof and LED lights. This car handles well love options and features for a very nice car seems affordable and built to last it's kind of reliable vehicle. It's supposed get 30mile per highway I have literally been driving my car for 2,000miles averaged trip computer says 31.4 mpg as check actual fuel economy it gets. The Maxima does look stylish very happy with my new car purchase so outstanding looking the new interior is design better all the quality materials are well-fitted especially worth money in getting this car no issues but keep in mind that it's still a new car so can give details but all I know I picked an good looking car.

A huge step up from 2014
I checked out the 2016 Maxima Platinum almost as an afterthought. I was looking at several cars including the Audi A4 & A6, the Acura TLX Advance, Lexus GS350 and IS350, and the Infiniti Q50. I was really surprised at how well the Maxima stacked up. You will love or hate the new bold in-your-face exterior (I love it) but the interior is a huge leap forward from the older Max. Lighting options provide a very classy curb appearance along with the standard signature boomerang LED running lights. The high console and large screen (tilted slightly toward the driver) seem inspired by fighter jet design. The seats are large and supportive and the driving position very comfortable. The Max is very close in size to the Acura TLX but looks much bigger because of the lines and high hood design. The infotainment systems are colorful and intuitive and the Bose audio is crisp and realistic. Heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel and exterior mirrors (auto-dimming on the driver side) and the safety features in the Platinum edition are very impressive for a non-luxury brand - I would love to know how they make that 360 degree camera view work - it looks like the view from a drone flying above the car. Great for positioning in a parking space! Sonar systems on the corners and collision avoidance warnings also very helpful. Ride is a little stiffer than the average family car, but not at all harsh. Low end torque is very satisfying when trying to get up to speed quickly. On the down side, the Max is a little short on 12v outlets compared to its competitors and in later years Nissan corrected the problem that the USB ports are not lighted, making them very difficult to find at night. The front passenger is limited to four-way seat adjustment rather than eight-way that some of the Max's competitors offer - not a lot of fun for a short passenger, especially when driving toward the sun in late afternoon. Trunk size seems limited by the wheel wells and the positioning of the onboard computer system just under the deck behind the rear seats. Acura offers a two full screen infotainment system that some critics have called "confusing" but I found it more flexible than the Max's - the Acura Advance also has a hard drive you can store music on which is a nice feature. The Nissan warranty also comes up a little short when compared with some of the competitors. One major issue: at 59K miles and 61 months after purchase the CVT gave out. Even though I was technically out of warranty, Nissan and the dealership came through for me and fixed it at no cost to me, so I appreciate them standing behind their product. My recommendation is to be careful with that CVT, make sure to get the required maintenance and don't go shifting to manual mode while in motion (the manual cautions against that). Five years ago, the Max Platinum impressed me enough to forego the luxury brands. Five years later, still good with that decision. Even though I had a major mechanical issue, the company stood with me and took care of it.
