Used 2016 Nissan Frontier Consumer Reviews
Great small pick up.
My 2016 Frontier is the most reliable vehicle I have owned. It rides well, handles well on the road, and goes well off the road and in snow and ice. In over 80,000 miles, I have never had any mechanical failure. I replace tires and batteries, windshield wipers, and brake pads as needed. Other wise it just works. It has a lot of power and tows well.

Strong and solid but thirsty
I purchased a lightly used 2016 Nissan Frontier, it had 10k miles when purchased. It was the SV model V6 4x4 crew cab. For anyone who likes to change their own oil be advised the skid plate opening is made for smaller hands and I cursed it often during a oil change. It ran strong but did sound almost like a diesel on cold mornings. What little snow I drove it in it performed excellent. The two biggest issues would be poor fuel mileage and its turn radius is that of a 18 wheeler. I'm not alone in this complaint as many others have expressed it also. Overall when I traded it in I was going to buy a newer Frontier but the dealer wasn't willing to make a decent deal and I went for a new 2019 Colorado. I know the current owner that ended up with my Frontier and hes very pleased with it.

Solid truck, simple features
Traded my SV Murano in for the vehicle. Doesn't have the comfort of the Murano, but it's a truck. Nice stiff suspension giving it a solid feel on the road. I was surprised I found one with a manual tranny, 6 speed, because manuals just aren't all that popular anymore. First is very low making it very easy to pull out on hills. There's a feature that aids in minimizing rearward drift starting on hills that seems to work. On level ground you can easily pull out in 2nd gear. Once you shift into 2nd, you can really feel the power of the 6 banger and it's easy to not realize you've jumped to 35mph in no time. Plenty of power for this truck from the 6 cyl power plant. Easy to break traction pulling out way moreso than I've had with my older Nissans. This truck would be very easy for a rookie driver to learn how to drive a stick with. I'm a bit disappointed that there's not more storage inside the vehicle. One map pocket on the back of the seats, but it's in the right place for the driver to get to on the back of the passenger seat. Tiny glove boxes, yes, 2 of them, but they're really small. The console could have better design as there's hardly any storage there, not even a place to put your CD's. Has 2 12V plugs on the dash (handy for your Garmin) and a plug with a usb port inside the console storage box. I don't think the ports inside the console are very well placed and think you'd have to leave the arm rest open to use them. The interior does look cheap, but it's practical with heated cloth seats. At least you won't get burned hopping onto a leather seat when it's hot. The rear seats are full size seats, but not high enough off the floor. Rear under seat storage is poor - can't put a golf bag under them or a tackle box, but you can store some flatter items. Let's not forget, it's a small truck anyway. For short trips the rear seats would be ok for a couple buds to ride along to the golf course or fishing hole, but not for an extended trip unless you're talking like a 25 year old. Not good for us older folks. I would imagine having winter hunting gear on it would be tight as well. Road lighting is fair. I hope I can replace the head lamps with either Xenon or HID lights. Guess I was spoiled with my Murano. The ride itself is not bad. Again, it's a small truck. Would like to have seen 20" tires on this instead of smaller to get more longevity on tire wear. Overall, it's a pretty nice looking truck. Comes with a bed extender and moveable anchors for tying down cargo in the bed - nice feature. Much of this review is more first impression because I just got this one a few days ago so I can't comment on what I haven't seen yet. Also overall, I'm fairly satisfied with this vehicle. If I can, I'll update my review as things become apparent. UPDATE 1/2020: Well, a few things that have come to light. This is a standard. There's no gear indication on the dashboard for what gear I'm in, the mileage is not good for this small of a truck with the engine it has. It should be getting at least 19 MPG, but it's struggling to maintain 16 with summer gas and 14 with winter gas. I've noticed now rust is developing near the gas cap on a weld under the gas door. VERY DISAPPOINTED with rust showing up. The more I look at this vehicle, the more it appears the paint on the bumper and on the fenders is two different shades and should not be. Was thinking this truck was in an accident, but the carfax says it's a clean truck. The headlights could be better and the gear indication could really help. The truck has no navigation, but it is available as an option. I'm not impressed at all with the radio, even on FM. I've not had the rear window opened. I'm rather disappointed in the current dealer who took over for West Hills Nissan. I have no confidence in them keeping me up to date with recalls and issues like West Hills did. It's like either they don't care or are not familiar with the warranty I purchased - it's the same as I had for the Murano I bought there. I do not think I'll be buying another Nissan. Perhaps will change to Honda or Toyota. UPDATE 1/2022: Not putting many miles on my truck, thank God for that because the mileage has worsened. I'm lucky now to get 12 MPG city and 14 MPG hwy. Sad! More rust is showing up. Had to do a brake job - had to change rotors and pads on front. Rears are still in good shape. Getting older, I didn't tighten the lugs to specs and lost 4 of the 6 along with a couple studs shearing. Make sure you torque those lug nuts on these things if you do your own brakes and then recheck the torque after about 75 miles or so. Could have cost my life or someone else's or I could have hurt a kid even and I sure as hell wouldn't want that to happen. Other than these couple of items, and those mentioned before, the truck is fairly good. I just would have been better off buying a full size truck.
