Great SUV at a very attractive price!

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander SE 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
I looked at several mid-sized SUVs to replace my Ford Transit Connect passenger van, including offerings from Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, and Volkswagen. Being a former owner of 4 Mitsubishi vehicles, I decided to look at the Outlander, and am I ever glad that I did. I like it so well that I bought a second Outlander, as I needed a new car for my disabled partner to drive. Both of them … are in the SE trim, which is very well equipped. One thing that the Outlander offers that few other competitors don't is a third-row seat that folds flat to make a generous loading space. However, it is miniscule and suitable only for very small children or pets that can fit in it and get into it through the folded second-row split bench seat. We don't have either small children or pets in the household, so the third-row seat will remain folded down. It's all in the details, and Mitsubishi has made some very positive changes for the 2025 model year. I heard complaints about overly light steering in the prior years as well as rough ride and high noise level. These complaints were certainly addressed by Mitsubishi for 2025. The steering is now well-weighted and gives the driver some road feel. The suspension in the 2025 now handles rough pavement with aplomb, and the car is VERY quiet. It is so quiet that when engine is running and stopped, you can hardly hear it from inside or outside the car. The exterior styling is somewhat bold and unusual, certainly differentiating it from other mid-sized SUVs, but I find it attractive (your mileage may differ). The interior is unbelievably posh for this price point and well executed with good fit and soft touch surfaces everywhere you would want them. The SE seats have a sueded fabric insert in the center surrounded by simulated leather, and they are very comfortable in both the first and second rows. In hot Florida I appreciate not sitting on uncomfortably warm all-leather seats. I was parked next to a Lincoln Aviator SUV, and to be frank, the Outlander's interior looks posher than the Lincoln. Leg room is great in both first and second rows. The technology that Mitsubshi has incorporated seems state of the art. The infotainment screen is large and sharp, and the audio system by Yamaha that is standard equipment blows me away - probably the best stereo system I have ever had in one of my cars. So far fuel mileage has been in the upper 20s. There are all types of safety-related technologies, such as collision avoidance, lane centering blind spot warning, and front, rear, and side cameras to help with parking and visibility when navigating tight spaces like narrow alleys. Apparently, Mitsubishi is #6 in reliability for its vehicles and low annual repair and maintenance costs, and they give you several free services. The warranty is about the best in the business, so you will not have to buy a protection plan as insurance. Overall, the Outlander is awesome and a terrific value, and we now have fraternal twin SEs in the household, one pearlescent white and one dark gray metallic.
