Look at a VW GTI instead

I saw a Mini at the auto show just months before it arrived at dealerships and it felt like a hundred $100k vehicle. When I sat in the vehicle at the dealership, there was an obvious difference in feel from the one at the show- cheap. It's not as small as the original, negating any real association. While the S version is a decent sporting car, think of the base vehicle as a stylish Chevy Metro. The vehicle is fairly priced- before the dealer markup. As of now, neither versions are worth the money. If you wait, maybe you can have one at a more reasonable price (closer to invoice). Want a real value in sporting and luxury in a similar car? Seriously consider the VW GTI.

It's not the fastest car out there, but it certainly one of the most fun to drive! It handles better than any car I've ever driven in stock form. You find yourself taking lots of detours just to get on a windy road rather than a straight on. Could use a little more power though, especially low end torque. Unfortunately, the dealers are only getting a very limited supply of JCW kits. Some people complain about the noise and harsh ride of the 17" wheels w/ runflats, but I don't think it's that bad.

My CVT Mini Cooper stalls while driving.I was struck from behind but received no damage. One week later, the car died and wouldn't restart. The same day I picked it up from service, the car died 3 times in 2 hours! My car also gets abysmal city gas mileage -17/18. Dealer has been highly unhelpful, stating they couldn't reproduce the problem and expressing no remorse or concern over our safety.6 of the 7 complaints on the NHTSA website deal with the EXACT SAME PROBLEM.In these reports, dealers state they cannot reproduce the problem.I don't feel safe driving any Mini until this problem is solved.

This car has been incredible! It is enjoyable, gets great gas mileage and I bought mine back when everyone stopped me to see "What in the heck is that?" you're driving. (Fun, at first but ultimately a bit cumbersome! Although once I started talking about it, couldn't stop smiling!). The run flats have been a nice asset, as that has been my only problem in 5 years of ownership---2 flat tires! Motor on, MINI!
