Cooper is dying

I got my Cougar, Cooper as I call him, for my 16th birthday and at 22 now I realize it was the worst purchase I have ever made. I have had problems since day 1, everything from the engine, transmission, sun roof, tires, brakes, catalytic converter, wheel bearings, you name it its needed fixing. I love driving it though. You can beat 90% of the people on the road and it handles like a dream. But dont get used to it. Each year I've put at least $700 into repairs and just this month I was told I have $1200 in repairs. I am currently shopping for a new car. I loved my Cougar and if you dont mind paying for repairs then 99 Cougar is the car for you. But your check engine light will forever be on!

I bought this car with close to 100,000 miles on it, i took it to a mechanic and he said everything was fine, a few months later everything started breaking down, i had to replace all of the strut's and already rebuilt the transmission twice because the gear's would not switch, this car is horrible i wouldnt suggest to get it, it has so many problems that i just junked it.

I bought this vehicle in 2002, and Overall, I cannot complain. I have had very minimal issues with this car. I did not start putting money into it until the year or so, and even then it hasn't broke my bank account. Repairs have included: brakes, alternator, and new tires. If they were still making these and I wasn't in need of an SUV I would not think twice about getting another one. They are fun to drive, handle nicely, and it has done me well in the Canadian winters.

This is a great car! The V6 is plenty fun although not exceedingly strong. The automatic transmission is smooth and has a great sound. The car gets great gas mileage and is comfortable even on a long trip. Aside from being great looking the hatchback design makes it easy to carry over-size objects. Even with the performance Comp T/A 16 inch tires it is very surefooted in rain, snow and ice. The car is beautiful, fun, economical and reliable. What more is there?

Cougars go Roar

My First Car, 11/30/2008

I got this car used on October 20 of this year. I haven't had many problems with it, other than my heater core on it is broken and it sometimes leaks transmission fluid. But other than that I love this car. The engine is so much fun to listen to. It's pretty fast for a 2.5 V6. Everything works fine in the car. It has a pretty decent sound system, but I'm looking to put some 12's in it. The only problem is that I drive long distances sometimes and I worry about my engine over-heating with my transmission fluid leaking, but other than that I'm very happy with the performance and stability of this car. And I'm glad it's what I got for my first car.
