Nice car for an old geezer
My S550 convertible's transmission blew up (literally) on the way home from the dealer. With a new tranny, I drove 48000 miles and it is still running. Until recently nothing went wrong. Now the CD player (which I have never used) needed to be replaced and the remote trunk switch on the driver's door fell apart. The car is still under warranty but I have a bad premonition that the thing will get expensive. It is a shame since it is a powerful, comfortable and very impressive car and comparables (Bentley Continental?) cost much more. The depreciation is enormous - I paid 150,000 for it August 2016 and my dealer keeps on offering a current model with a trade in offer for 65,000 dollars. Update May 2021 - COVID sure put an end to cross country jaunts. I only have 55,000 miles on the car. It is running very well, no problems to report. Since it will not be produced after this year, I will hang on to it for the near future. One good thing about it is that Mercedes has a way of providing parts and service for their cars - of course they cost an arm and a leg, but still cheaper than one of the replacement models. November 2022 - l have just arrived at 69000 miles. New tires were needed, the second set - Michelin Pilot AS3 - lasted 30000. In the meantime, we took the car for a new cross country trip. I am doing the oil/filter changes myself but an air filter and new spark plugs are overdue and will be fiendishly expensive. Blowing the fuses for the electric outlets (my fault) was educational. One has to literally take apart the entire trunk to get to the fuse box (or the battery). Price of three fuses - 6 dollars. Labor at Mercedes would probably have been 4-500 dollars. Oh well. Otherwise literally nothing went wrong in 6 years. Trade in value? Probably $45,000 - an expensive indulgence, a Kia Rio would have been cheaper to have.

Best car I have ever owned
Twin turbocharged 6 cylinder engine develops 382 horsepower. This car has plenty of pickup for driving in city or on highway. I consistently hit 32 MPG on highway, using the self adjusting cruise and lane retention features. The technology is amazing. It virtually drives itself, maintaining in lane, adjusting speed to traffic, and self parking. The finishes on the exterior and interior are excellent. After driving several other Luxury brands, I will have a tough time leaving my Mercedes.

The best sedan driver I've ever owned
I just read a few reviews of a 2017 MB S550 sedan and had lot's of troubles. I bought 8 months ago a 17 MB S550 4-Matic metallic brown exterior with the new 9-speed transmission and it's a great looking and driving vehicle. Beautiful across the board. I've never driven a smoother full loaded sedan EVER. My friend has a 2017 RR Ghost we exchanged cars for an hour and he admitted my car was equally as good as the ghost. I bought the car with 29K and 14 months on the warrantee and considerably less than half of the MSRP. You just can't beat it..

No happe with S550e
I have been driving Mercedes most of my life even when I was young growing up my father always had a Mercedes. I love the car and the comfort level is great but I have never been so disappointed with a Mercedes in all my life as much as this time. I live in a gated very nice Golf community and most of my trips to San Francisco mostly no dirt or country driving, in 6 months the windshield crack twice the first time around I took it to the dealer and the cost was about $3000 now less than six months and the windshield crack again not sure if I want to spend another 3000 at the same time hate to drive such a nice beautiful almost new car with the window cracked, I took it to the dealer hoping they will honor some kind of warranty but no luck, Also the Car went totally dead on my few time not sure whey!!! I also felt it has been an issue with the charge because when I charged it totally to 100% and within 3-5 miles it the charge is down to 20% according to the manual I should drive a little longer in 100% charge. Like I said I always drove owned and leased Mercedes but never had to deal with so many issues as much as this one it is either a lemon or Mercedes need to invest a little more time in creating the electric cars with the same high standard and quality they usually offer and deliver to customers. Thank you, ae

Handles better than our 2008 E550
Expensive, but superior ride, handling, quiet, and very responsive, faster and better MPG than our 08 E550! Many features, finding out more as we drive the car. We were blown away with the self setting clock, the previous Mercedes clocks, tedious when changing time. A truly superior automobile, although I do miss the bullet proof paint of old, the new paint being water based is not as durable.
