Should be recalled
Average interior. The plastics inside feel cheap. Seats are not comfortable. Lacks power going uphill. Rough ride, you feel every tine ridge on the road. The sheet metal body has light tin feeling. Definitely not worth almost 40 k sticker. The passenger seat heated up while the car was parked due to electrical malfunction and created a fire hazard. The heated seats had to be disconnected to stop the battery from draining. Dealer does not have a fix. I think this being reported by many owners. No word of any recall from Mazda. They are probably waiting till there are reports of spontaneous combustion of few front seat occupants to occur before doing something about it.
What a Surprise
We had been looking, since July 2010 and covered everything but a Kia. We drove the Porsche, MB ML-350 you name it and we drove them all. I can say this was the winner by a long shot. Coming from a Porsche guy, I am glad we saw and drove this wonderful vehicle last.

Very delighted owner
We bought this car after testing several others like the Highlander and Traverse. The former lacks cargo space behind the third row and this third row is intended for children or small adults only. The later has its seats on the second and third rows too close to the floor that it makes it uncomfortable for long trips. We cannot be more pleased with our choice, its riding and performance are awesome, feels solid and its interior and exterior satisfy our taste. We've got so far 23 mpg, mainly on highways.
Familyt Road-Trip Rock Star!
We have 17,000 miles on our 2010 CX9, 5000 of those have come in a 5000+ mile cross-country and back trip in the past five weeks. I have really liked this car since I bought it 15 months ago, now I love it! It really excels on the highway - very fun to drive, great handling, and very comfortable. I really shopped around before buying it, especially giving the Honda Pilot serious consideration, but I am SO glad I went with the Mazda.
Test drive one, you'll be impressed!
I did tons of research on crossovers and the CX9 blew away the competition. We test drove the Traverse, Flex, Subaru Tribeca & Pilot. The CX9 handles like a dream, it doesn't feel like a big SUV at all. The safety ratings are great, which we experienced firsthand- we were rear- ended within the first month. The triple-H construction lived up to its design, the other car was totaled, ours fared much better. The CX9 has the lowest percent chance of rollover among its competitors, even better than the Subaru. Dash controls are intuitive, heat & A/C work great. Lots of room for kids or adults in 2nd & 3rd rows. Seat folding is easy (the Ford and Chevy were both more difficult). Test drive one!
