4 Wheel Superbike
Closest thing to a superbike on 4 wheels. This little vehicle handles like few others. The low polar inertia helps the grippy tires to change directions effortlessly. Four wheel anti-lock disc brakes stop the car as fast as any other street vehicle. Below 6000 rpm the engine is just another 4 cylinder, but when the big cam lobes kick in at 6-grand, you'll think a couple of solid rocket boosters went off. silky-smooth 6-speed transmission keeps you in the power range when properly used. Loads of fun to drive. Rock solid Honda quality, through and through.
The perfect secondary vehicle
Perfect non-primary car for top-down, sporting fun. Everything one would expect from a first-rate sports car: powerful high-reving engine, great handling, rigid chassis, good brakes and sticky tires. Manual tranny, rough ride, noise and limited storage make this a poor daily commuter though.

Fun, sleek and reliable.
My silver S2000 with red leather interior has been trouble free ever since I bought it in January of 2001. It has averaged very good gas mileage (for a sports car) and outstanding performance. When I took it to the beach last summer, it averaged 30 mpg over 500 miles of highway driving! The only complaint I have is with some minor vibration noises coming from the top and poor visibility through the plastic top window. Other than that, the car has been a joy to own.
Very new S2!
After test driving one, I bought one not for the looks, but for its superb handling. I begged my wife to test drive it. Golf clubs fit in the trunk unlike the MR2. Seats are reassuringly firm, supportive when cornering hard. After 200 miles, I still haven't found a comfortable position to rest my left arm for any extended period of time (freeway driving). As everyone has already noted, running this car at such high rpm's is different- the ear has to adjust. Top operation is quick and easy. It's amazing that so many people do not even know what it is! Guess they haven't seen "Fast & the Furious."
Too much fun!
I've had this car for a full month now and I've got to say it is just exhilarating to drive. Such a stiff chassis and almost no lean. Hit the throttle and once it hits 6k you're in for a delight that almost feels like it should be illegal(keep hitting 9k in 3rd and 4th and it will be) You learn to pack light, and just enjoy the car. For those who complain that its bumpy and small, why did you buy an s2000? Thats not the point. If you want a reliable, fun, high performance drivers car this is for you. 6 speed is smooth, integrity is great. Change the factory stereo/speakers though, Tire performance is excellent but wear quicker. Your constant grinning will have everyone think your crazy!
Honda S2000, Still an Eye Turner at Sweet 16
We've loved our S2000. We bought it new in 2002 and still feel like we're meeting it for the very first time when we drive it. It's a great little car. However, at 70 plus, getting in and out is gradually becoming a task. This task has been exacerbated by a recent back surgery. Considering trading my baby, but it's hard to pull the trigger.

Freakin' Awesome!
This is the most fun you can have outside of sex! The power surge that you get when the VTEC cuts in takes you from "driving the car" to "just holding on" is a rush! And the handling was a pleasant surprise... my Acura TL-S feels like a boat now. Thr controls are easy to operate and well positioned for the most part... I'm not real fond of the cup holder in the console since it interferes with shifting when there is a 16oz cup in it. And the stereo is just okay. It could benefit from a few more amps and better speaker placement... the CD also has skipping problems, probably from the stiff suspension... not a sign of the quality unit that I expected.
Great Car
Very fun car to drive. Gets looks/compliments everywhere you go. People don't expect it to be a Honda, and tend to think it's a lot more expensive than it really is. Interior is a little cramped, but goes along with the territory of owning a 2-seater. Otherwise, the gauges/controls are very driver oriented. Light-weight / RWD / lack of traction control can get a little scary in the rain. Suspension is pretty stiff and not too comfortable. A true enthusiast's car, Honda did well on this one. I'd absolutely adore it if it were my weekend car, but since it's a daily driver, the stiff suspension and lack of traction control and torque can get annoying. performance - yes. Practicality - no.
My S2000 experience so far...
I've had my S2000 in Dallas, Tx now for almost a year and a half. My first year of ownership yielded approx. 19,000 miles, and much high speed driving. I replaced the first set of tires at 12,000 miles and I'm replacing the second set now just shy of 21,000 miles. Overall the car drives like a gocart on crack.
Miata on Steroids
To anyone interested in buying the S- 2000.It does have some short comings in creature comforts. However, it is the most fun I've had in any of my 13 cars. It is almost like a four wheeled motorcycle. If you can find one, drive it. If you have to pay over MSRP, do it. I did and I sell them. It's worth it. Break it in right. This is the highest quality Honda I have ever seen and I've been around them since my '88 CRX Si. I traded cars with my friend Jorge, for a day, and his Boxster is no match....Don't bither spending $10,000 more for a Boxster / SLK / TT, etc...The M-Roadster has a little more guts, but the S-2000 makes it all up in the corners.
The Cars I Missed Buying Rolled Into One
It's just not possible to go 100 feet in my S2000 without breaking into an ear-to-ear grin that lasts for hours after leaving the car. This is truly, by design, a racing car. The S2000 does not really handle like a car--it's somewhere between a go- cart and a motorcyle. The engine is perfectly satisfactory up to 5000 RPM for driving in even stop-and-go traffic. From 5000 to red line at 9000, you go into warp drive. I missed buying a Porsche Speedster and a 356SC, I turned down a great deal on a 289 Cobra, and I passed on a Lotus Super 7. They are all in the S2000 with the reliability of a Honda. I will keep this car for the rest of my life.
S2000 is the car for soo many reasons.
I love this car. Not very practical for a daily driver but what a blast to drive! This car drives so much better than a Z3 M6 handling, acceleration, shifting, looks. People always stare when they see this car. Even Porsche owners look and feel a twinge of regret.
This car is awesome!!!
Forget Z3/4, Forget SLK's, forget the 350Z, forget TT's, even forget Boxters (not Boxster S though), THIS CAR IS AMAZING. It's like a motorcycle on four wheels. On the fun to drive and reliability scale, it's off the charts. Clearly though it does not have accord reliability, but it's still a VERY stable and dependable Honda.
$9,000 per cylender?
When I got in the cockpit I first got a positive impression of the car, but given time, other things came to my attention. The Car's performance would satisfy me if the price was around $25,000 because let's face it: 240 horses isn't extreme power by anybody's standards. I was dissappointed by the car's lack of power more than anything, although other aspects of performance were better.
2002 honda S2000
I had a race with my friends boxter and enjoyed an awsome victory celebration. This car is the most awsome car i have ever driven and owned. I have read every review on the internet before getting this car and it is better than I had dreamed. The 2002 is far more refined than the earlier models but one thing is the same the explosive engine at high RPM's.
Palpitations
There is no bigger thrill-ride available on the road today. Hit the little red button, use your fingertips to shift the flawless stick, and let it rev. Trips to the supermarket cause the heart to flutter. This is a noisy bulldog of a car that always demands your attention. Not for music lovers; you can't hear the radio. Who cares?
Watch out for the tranmission
Overall the car is great. However, you got to watch out for the transmission. Not built for the power of the car. Lots of recalls on the transmission, and Honda is not supportive of issues with the transmission because of the numerous problems with it. Other than that, it drives great, looks great!
S2000 The Good, The Bad, and The Pretty
This is one fun car to drive. If you want to rev, shift and run through the twisties this car is for you. It made me forget about my long lost motorcycle and even the C-5 I sold a couple years ago. In stock form I think it offers just about every feature you could ask for. With it's reliability, power convertible top, and performance, there simply isn't anything close for the money (why do you think dealers can mark them up and won't EVER sell them under sticker???). Don't expect the raw power of a V-8. The rear-end was defective ($7,000!). Honda stepped up and repaired it under the factory warranty.
This car is the best
This is the car for you if you like head turning looks combined with speed. I tried all the other convertibles in its class and the S2000 was the clear winner. Mine is the triple black model which makes all the difference in the world in how it looks.
awesome ride
For those who think a 4 cylinder normally aspirated engine can't be a thriller - you are WRONG! Take a 2 liter 4 cylinder, put it on speed (9000 rpms) and you have an incredible rush. The sound is sweet. Above 6000 rpms the sound is incredible. Think of your favorite Formula 1 arcade game, and place it into a real vehicle. The sound - the cockpit - the feel.
SWEET RIDE
A week before I test drove and bought this car, I tested a Corvette. The Honda's handling, feel for the road, and pure fun was far superior and at a much, much lower cost. Like the NSX, Honda knows how to build a sweet ride.
Awesome Vehicle, MUst Get
This is a very nice car. It has great fuel economy. And also has a powerful engine that has a 9 redline.
Sweet
Words wont do this car justice. Just imagine, nice sunny day around 70 degrees, top down, cruising the highway at 80...shifting down to pass slow driver....vtec kicks in...BLAM.
Luv this car!
Anyone who says they need more torque doesn't know how to drive a high-rev machine. You can spin the wheels forever at a dead stop forever if you care to waste rubber. Shifting is smooth at all revs but don't try to skip gears at hi-revs. Tires don't wear...get the Dunlop super sport assymetrics at Tires.com for great wet/dry traction, anti-hydro and (relatively)long life...much better than the original Bridgestones. I wouldn't change much of anything.
new S2000
great weekend/alternative car.. it has enough power for around town, and above 6000 rpm really wakes up when the VTEC enables the high lift lobes on the cams
perfection
this is truly the most perfect car i have ever owned!!!!!!!!!1
my s2k
WHEN I BOUGHT MY S2000 IN JUNE OF 2001,I DROVE MY BOSSES SLK AND I HATED IT! I THOUGHT THE S2000 WAS A FASTER NICER AND LESS IN PRICE CAR THEN THE SLK!SO FAR I ADDED DC SPORTS HEADERS,BORLA CAT BACK EXHAUST,AND A INJEN INTAKE.WHEN I HIT VTECH ALL I KNOW IS THAT WHO EVER IS IN THE CAR BETTER COVER THERE EARS CUZ ITS LOUD!!!!!! I LOVE THE S2OOO AND WOULD NEVER GET RID OF IT! ANYONE THAT HASNT DRIVEN ONE PLEASE DO!! I SELL NISSAN AND I CANT WAIT TILL THE 350Z,BUT I WOULD NEVER GET RID OF THE S2K FOR A NISSAN! IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE GET ONE!!!!!!!!
The Definative Sportscar
Ive been driving sports cars for decades, but the Honda S2000 is the most impressive vehicle Ive driven in the price range. Ive tried every other modern car in its class (Porsche Boxster, Audi TT, BMW Z3, Miata, MR2), and none of them create as much pure excitement, hair-raising speed, and surgical handling as the little Honda. My MGB has not been out of the garage since I brought the S2000 home.
Love my convertable..lifetime dream!
I have wanted a convertable since 1953. The S2000 is my first and the true joy of driving has been revealed. I really do make up excuses to drive somewhere just to get behind the wheel. What a delight!
Honda S2000 2002
I have had the car about 5 months and it was run perfectly. The fit and finish is excellent. The transmission and engine are extremely smooth and feel like a formula I race car. The 9000 rpm red line really is a different experience. It takes a little getting use to the powerband being in the 5500- 7500 rpm range. Not a lot of space but then again I didn't expect much. I did upgrade the speakers and add an amplifier to ensure clearer sound at highway speeds with the top down.
Honda S2000
If you want a driver's car, not a luxury car, this is the one. This car is made to be driven hard, but still is fun cruising the town. But take it on a twisty road, and it comes alive
Unbelieveable car
First and foremost, I've driven civics all my life, including the latest, an 02 si. Finally, I get my hands on the S2000 and all i can say is WOW! Pure power delivered by a 9200 redline! There's not much more of a race car Honda could've designed. Its all that and THEN SOME! It handles beautifully, accelerates like a car on a mission! This car will give over 90% of the cars on the road a run for their money or even, a good taste of honda exhaust fumes!
Great Car, Lousy Transmission
I bought this car in December of 2001. Lust at first sight and Love at first drive. After six wonderful months with the car the transmission went sour. The dealership where I live, Allen Honda in College Station, TX claimed the car had been abused and therefore would not be covered under warranty. For sure, I drive hard. But... The car has never been on a race track, I have never missed a shift at high rpm, etc. etc. FYI, the Honda Customer Service rep. told me that shifting at redline can be construed as abuse?!?! Needless to say I will never own another Honda for the rest of my days.
rocket rod
wow! what a kick butt ride! This car gets more looks than my corvette convertible ever did and it handles better too. How can you keep under 7000 rpm in this baby? If you never have driven one, beg the next owner you see for a ride.
owesomee
this car has no limitation on speed.
Amazing Car for the Price
I have no complaints about this car. If you're in the market for a reasonably price roadster with more power than a Toyota MR-2 or Mazda Miata the S2000 is the car for you.
Love It!
Just got my 2002 today and couldn't be happier. This is one fun car to drive. For the price, there isn't a better high performance car out there. Highly recommend for anyone who thinks driving should not be a tedious day to day ordeal.
solid performer
having driven nothing but celicas, the s 2000 is the first close-to- performance car i've owned. very sturdy handling, very responsive. typical tight suspension...probably the bumpiest ride i've ever had. but, to be expected
Greatest Car Ever
I have lusted after this car for 5 yrs since I laid eyes on it seeing it as a concept car. I finally got the chance to purchase one this past fall. I test drove over 50 vehicles trying to find one that would make me change my mind about buying an S2000. Both my parents and my girlfriend pleaded against the S2000, but there was no car that made me feel the way I did behind the wheel of what I consider an "F-1 race car with an extra seat." I LOVE THIS CAR.
For those who were wondering....
Just got my S2000 and it has exceeded expectations. This vehicle takes getting used to.....its bumpy, loud, and a little tight inside (esp if you're 6'1''). However, I wouldn't trade it for anything! The acceleration after 6000 rpm is incredible and it doesn't even break a sweat when cornering @ 45 mph. And for those who were wondering: 1. just enough room in trunk for 1 set of golf clubs (ping hoofer bag) 2. plenty of head/leg room for driver/passenger up to 6'2'' 3. great gas mileage 26-27 mpg ciy. 4. if you're self conscious then don't buy one b/c everyone STARES!
Best Value on the road
I've had this car for 4 months and it gets better every day. I bought it on- line and paid $200 over invoice. I had to travel an hour to get it but it was well worth it, local dealers were all sticker or sticker +. After driving Z3's and Boxsters this is faster, better handling and I don't see 5 on the way to work every day.
Brake-In is crucial
Althought S2000 has a perfect transmission and gearbox; the clutch need to be brake-in before you can have optimal performance. The acceleration difference between 1000 miles and 6000 miles is extremly significant.
One Great Roadster
S2000 is a great roadster. Fun to drive with excellent handling, stylish headturning looks and reasonably priced to boot. Put's a smile on my face every day.
Just two things left off
I'd had my red S2000 for quite some time now. I've driven from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas several time, to the Red Woods, and San Diego. A treat every time I get to drive it. And in my opinion..... a Red S2000 is the only real S2000.....!
Fun to drive
If you want a fun car with lots of stares - this is the one!! It has great pick up speed but not too much torque so you can drive fast without feeling your heading for light-speed. Handles well around corners. Easy to use automatic convertible system. Not a lot of extras in the inside- it's simple. just a great driving car!!
Great Car
Great all around! Especially for the price. I still smile everytime I get in.
POCKET ROCKET
THIS CAR IS EXCITING TO DRIVE...A SPORTSBIKE WITH COMFORT.
True Sports Car
This car is simply awesome. I test drove several competing vehicles, including bmw m roadster, mercedes slk32 AMG and porsche boxster s. The fun factor on the honda beats them all - you can't help but to smile when driving this car. Mercedes comes automatic only, so though a bit faster than S2000, a sports car with an automatic is an oxymoron, and Mercedes felt heavier/less nimble. The 2002 BMW M a bit faster than Honda as well, but loses on handling, as I've helped to prove on the autocross circuit. Boxster S very similar performance, and some say easier to drive Boxster S faster, but a good driver in each car, and it's anybody's race, drag, track or autoxx.
Love this car
Great car ... love to drive it ... love to look at it ... LOVE to drive it ... test drive this car and you will buy it on the spot.
Great Performance Car w/ no frills
I gave it 10's on everything except interior design and comfort. If you're over 5' 8" and over 160 pounds, it will be a tight and short fit, but well worth the snugness and shortened visual height (w/ top up). Wish it had seat height adjustment. No need to repeat what everyone has said about the remarkable engine and even more remarkable body and handling characteristics. A pleasure to drive, and I love blowing away BMW Z3's, M Roadsters, Audii TT's, and Porsche Boxsters (including the Boxster S!). Unbelievable peformance value, but need to find an honest dealer. Bought mine for 2K over MSRP last year.
