Fun to drive
If you want a fun car with lots of stares - this is the one!! It has great pick up speed but not too much torque so you can drive fast without feeling your heading for light-speed. Handles well around corners. Easy to use automatic convertible system. Not a lot of extras in the inside- it's simple. just a great driving car!!

Hiway 1 California
I just took possesion of my new 2002 S2000. As if anticipating the arrival of my car, the weather cleared and the sun shined brightly for my first road trip. We drove the car through the Santa Cruz mountains and on Hiway 1 north of Santa Cruz. What a head turner. People of all ages gawked at the car wherever we went. Some open mouthed! Twisting roads? No problem! This car behaves as if chained to the road like a roller coaster. Awesome!!!!!!!! Through the mountain roads, I led a pack of BMW enthusiasts. They tried to keep up but you know!
POCKET ROCKET
THIS CAR IS EXCITING TO DRIVE...A SPORTSBIKE WITH COMFORT.
Hardcore True Sportscar
If you are wanting to be pampered or looking for luxury, look somewhere else. Want edgy, connected handling, performance, and a unique engine/drivetrain, then this is the car for you. The 6 speed is as precise as anything out there...at any price. And the experience of increasing torque from 6to 9k RPM is unlike anything else you will drive.
Just sweet
I just bought this car, its nothing short of fun
True Sports Car
This car is simply awesome. I test drove several competing vehicles, including bmw m roadster, mercedes slk32 AMG and porsche boxster s. The fun factor on the honda beats them all - you can't help but to smile when driving this car. Mercedes comes automatic only, so though a bit faster than S2000, a sports car with an automatic is an oxymoron, and Mercedes felt heavier/less nimble. The 2002 BMW M a bit faster than Honda as well, but loses on handling, as I've helped to prove on the autocross circuit. Boxster S very similar performance, and some say easier to drive Boxster S faster, but a good driver in each car, and it's anybody's race, drag, track or autoxx.
Love this car
Great car ... love to drive it ... love to look at it ... LOVE to drive it ... test drive this car and you will buy it on the spot.
Driving Sensation
Honda is a good car
As good as it gets under $50k
This is the only roadster I found for less than $50k that offered the combimation of extraordinary handling, good acceleration and the build quality and reliability I demand. I also considered the Boxter S and BMW M3 (but not the M roadster). The ride quality is very acceptable for a roadster, and the well bolstered, form fitting seats are superb. I opted to add rear speakers to improve the sound system.
Honda S2000 2002
I have had the car about 5 months and it was run perfectly. The fit and finish is excellent. The transmission and engine are extremely smooth and feel like a formula I race car. The 9000 rpm red line really is a different experience. It takes a little getting use to the powerband being in the 5500- 7500 rpm range. Not a lot of space but then again I didn't expect much. I did upgrade the speakers and add an amplifier to ensure clearer sound at highway speeds with the top down.
THE BEST CAR ON THE World !!!
THE BEST CAR ON THE World !!!
THE BEST CAR
YOU CANT FIND MORE CAR FOR THE MONEY. IT ROCKS!!!!!
Honda S2000
If you want a driver's car, not a luxury car, this is the one. This car is made to be driven hard, but still is fun cruising the town. But take it on a twisty road, and it comes alive
excellent
The Honda S2000 is by far the most exhilarating car I have ever had the honor of experiencing (I've driven cars such as the 300ZX, Porsche Boxster, BMW Z3, and Corvette). Not only does this car possess the handling of a true sports car, but also a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine pumping out an astounding 240 horses!
Unbelieveable car
First and foremost, I've driven civics all my life, including the latest, an 02 si. Finally, I get my hands on the S2000 and all i can say is WOW! Pure power delivered by a 9200 redline! There's not much more of a race car Honda could've designed. Its all that and THEN SOME! It handles beautifully, accelerates like a car on a mission! This car will give over 90% of the cars on the road a run for their money or even, a good taste of honda exhaust fumes!
Not for comfort
The S2000 is a fun car, but seriously lacks in comfort. If you into speed and can handle a 2 seater this is your car, but you may want to rethink road trips in it.
Great Car, Lousy Transmission
I bought this car in December of 2001. Lust at first sight and Love at first drive. After six wonderful months with the car the transmission went sour. The dealership where I live, Allen Honda in College Station, TX claimed the car had been abused and therefore would not be covered under warranty. For sure, I drive hard. But... The car has never been on a race track, I have never missed a shift at high rpm, etc. etc. FYI, the Honda Customer Service rep. told me that shifting at redline can be construed as abuse?!?! Needless to say I will never own another Honda for the rest of my days.
Excellent Buy of Performance & Value
For the price you pay for the S2k, it's an excellent buy. The handling of the car just so well. Excellent performance for a small engine.
rocket rod
wow! what a kick butt ride! This car gets more looks than my corvette convertible ever did and it handles better too. How can you keep under 7000 rpm in this baby? If you never have driven one, beg the next owner you see for a ride.
Happy NC Owner
Originally I wanted a 350Z Roadster. After test driving one I was impressed. I then looked at the Honda. I liked the build quality of the interior much better. After driving it I was sold. Wow! I feel like I put my car on in the morning. I still like the Z, but for less money I got a better interior and a better performing car.
owesomee
this car has no limitation on speed.
The sport bike you can drive...
This car is truly best-defined as "The sport bike you can drive." Or "A bike with doors." The electric top is a great creature comfort. The car is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven (including Corvette Z-06's and 3rd gen RX-7's). It's reliable enough to be a daily driver. The "lack of low end torque" has never been a problem, except when initially starting out from a stoplight. Once you get moving 10-15 feet, you can blow away anything around you. This car does just fine if you drive around town all day shifting at 4000rpm (not even half of it's usable RPM range).
Amazing Car for the Price
I have no complaints about this car. If you're in the market for a reasonably price roadster with more power than a Toyota MR-2 or Mazda Miata the S2000 is the car for you.
I love it!
If you're having a horrible day, driving this little beauty with the top down is the best medicine.
Great Performance Car w/ no frills
I gave it 10's on everything except interior design and comfort. If you're over 5' 8" and over 160 pounds, it will be a tight and short fit, but well worth the snugness and shortened visual height (w/ top up). Wish it had seat height adjustment. No need to repeat what everyone has said about the remarkable engine and even more remarkable body and handling characteristics. A pleasure to drive, and I love blowing away BMW Z3's, M Roadsters, Audii TT's, and Porsche Boxsters (including the Boxster S!). Unbelievable peformance value, but need to find an honest dealer. Bought mine for 2K over MSRP last year.
Cool.
Cool.
Love It!
Just got my 2002 today and couldn't be happier. This is one fun car to drive. For the price, there isn't a better high performance car out there. Highly recommend for anyone who thinks driving should not be a tedious day to day ordeal.
Great Fun Sport Car!
This car is fast, sporty, gets lots of looks and positive comments and blasting around on backroads and even around town is a great deal of fun. Ride is good, handling is solid and the engine and transmission 6 speeds are an absolute joy. It runs great and handles very well indeed. S2000 is really fun to drive!
Sweeet
Just traded in a 2002 Miata for a used (only 4000 miles) 2002 S2000. Seems to be in fabulous shape. I am only in my 2nd week of ownership, so can't say I know everything about it. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to trash talk the Miata cause it was a fun car. The S2000 is clearly in a different league. Funny how everybody wanted to race against my Miata, but I don't have many challengers in the S2000. I wonder why? I feel lucky to have landed this car.
solid performer
having driven nothing but celicas, the s 2000 is the first close-to- performance car i've owned. very sturdy handling, very responsive. typical tight suspension...probably the bumpiest ride i've ever had. but, to be expected
reason i get up
I've always wanted one since my 00 prelude went bye-bye. 6 seconds from coupe to convertable. 6 seconds from 0 to 60. 2nd gear is a blast 3rd gear will do 100mph. I am 6'2 and 225 pounds long legged but can drive 200 miles in this car without killing me. Not comfortable but can withstand it because of the fun factor of diving. Everyone wants to race you. 20+ mpg in the city. read warranty manual closely. only carries 400 pounds including passengers.
Great so far
Beautiful car. Have recieved more looks and inquirires about this vehicle than any other car I've ever owned
Performance with verve
Not just a head-turner, but a performance sports car that handles with quick & smooth response. The vtech can become addictive at first and the owner needs to choose the time and place to downshift, step on the gas, and be thrown back in your seat! If you want to maneuver through traffic, you don't need to crank it up or slowly guide it to where you want to go, just do it! Reliable, well built. Have had no mechanical issues. Besides an extra set of tires, nothing but regular maintenance. Got great lines, power, and just downright fun to drive. Easy to get to know, and once you're connected, it becomes your extension to the highway. You can move or cruise at will.
For those who were wondering....
Just got my S2000 and it has exceeded expectations. This vehicle takes getting used to.....its bumpy, loud, and a little tight inside (esp if you're 6'1''). However, I wouldn't trade it for anything! The acceleration after 6000 rpm is incredible and it doesn't even break a sweat when cornering @ 45 mph. And for those who were wondering: 1. just enough room in trunk for 1 set of golf clubs (ping hoofer bag) 2. plenty of head/leg room for driver/passenger up to 6'2'' 3. great gas mileage 26-27 mpg ciy. 4. if you're self conscious then don't buy one b/c everyone STARES!
Love it!
I have driven it for 2 1/2 years, driven coast to coast, and 35,000 mi. per year. I have been in an accident, hydroplaneing, at 70 mph and walked away after hitting the concrete freeway divider, returning to the highway doing a few 360's then back to the concrete divider hiting it with the rear of the car. Damage? all sheet metal except the doors were replaced, I drove the car to the side of the road to clear traffic. No radiator puncture no oil leak. Frame was 3 drgrees out of alignement after it left the shop it was 0 degrees out. It has never been back to the dealership for any repair or fix anything.
Best Value on the road
I've had this car for 4 months and it gets better every day. I bought it on- line and paid $200 over invoice. I had to travel an hour to get it but it was well worth it, local dealers were all sticker or sticker +. After driving Z3's and Boxsters this is faster, better handling and I don't see 5 on the way to work every day.
No longer want a viper
I know that sounds crazy, but after testing a Viper, Boxter, and NSX, I had to settle with S2000 - it's faster then the Boxster (which I just proved the other day), it turns tighter then the NSX which I didn't think could be possible, and it's just more then 40% of the cost of the Viper. The S2000 is actually a little difficult to learn to drive correctly, it really does require practice to shift quickly and keep the RPMs up between 7500-9000 but who else short of indy cars can say that they get to do that.
My S2K
I love this car
What a car
I've been researching a nice sporty car, and this one's the one. After a few months of ownership, what a car. Porsche Boxters are a dime a dozen anymore, this one is a gem.
Brake-In is crucial
Althought S2000 has a perfect transmission and gearbox; the clutch need to be brake-in before you can have optimal performance. The acceleration difference between 1000 miles and 6000 miles is extremly significant.
Totally Cool Roadster
I can sum up in one word what this Honda S2000 is, "COOL". It is registered and regarded as a car. But, it performs like no car that I ever had before. Its performance is more like a four wheeled motorcycle and is low slung like a go cart. It gets attention and looks wherever I take it. I wasn't exactly thrilled about running it on super unleaded gas at first. However, its stingy, strong running four banger gets me 26 to 28 miles to the gallon combined city and freeway driving. When I took it to my Honda dealer for its first service appointment, I was afraid that I was in for one heck of a bill. Surprisingly, my wife's Camry cost more to service. I am very happy with my S2000.
One Great Roadster
S2000 is a great roadster. Fun to drive with excellent handling, stylish headturning looks and reasonably priced to boot. Put's a smile on my face every day.
Did You Say Honda?
The top is down and it's a beautiful day, you climb in open roadster style, you put your legs over the door and stand on the seat and then sit down in the low, yet comfy, bolstered seats that will hold you in while pulling VERY sharp turns, floor it all the way to the 9 thousand RPM redline, and then take the sharp turn that says 15mph at 40mph with ease. This is one fun car, I've owned a Carrera 4 and currently own a Porsche GT3 an the S2000 is the best deal out there, a drop top car with a slick shifter and race car suspension for under 35k! You put it on more than you get in it, its like youre favorite pair of jeans, everything else just falls into place perfectly. A very fun car.
Just two things left off
I'd had my red S2000 for quite some time now. I've driven from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas several time, to the Red Woods, and San Diego. A treat every time I get to drive it. And in my opinion..... a Red S2000 is the only real S2000.....!
Hardcare sport S2K Great handling....
S2K is so balance 50/50, make the handling so well. It definitely so nice to drive around the coast on HWY1 along the coast in CA. The car produces one the best Horsepower/liter. Think about 240HP in a 2 liter engine. Honda is also great for the engineering on the engine as well as the reliability... As long as you take care the car, it will run forever. Don't forget the VTEC power...
right on honda
This is the best and by far the most fun car I have owned and I have owned a lot of cars. You do not drive the s2000 you ride it. It feels more like a bike than a car. I am so impressed that I have traded in my 2000 model for a 2002. Carry on Honda!
little things
Not many miles but some things obvious quickly. Door doesn't open wide enough, makes it hard to get in and out. Several rattles, something I never thought I would say about a Honda. Shift from 1st to 2nd is rough, sometimes almost impossible in the cold. If you get a bumper scratched and need to paint it, good luck, they don't go back on properly again. This is a summer, top down, short drive toy car. Used that way it's a 10. Drive it every day and you may come to hate it.
Great Car
Great all around! Especially for the price. I still smile everytime I get in.
F1 fun @ a steal !!!!!
This car is something!! I just broke it in for the recommended 600 miles by the factory and have taken it up to 8K rpm. I can't beleive the performance. Midrange is scary fast but I'll adapt. Top range is a point and shoot and you're there.
