A Mid Size Truck That's Doesn't Feel like a Truck

John, 02/11/2017
2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL 4dr Crew Cab AWD SB (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

I was looking for a midsize truck but didn't like the idea of rear wheel drive w/ 4WD. The Ridgeline with AWD fit perfectly. I wanted a long bed so not a crew cab. But the Ridgeline crew cab has a lot of storage under the rear seats and a flat floor. The truck bed is also flat. The tail gate opens to the side as well as conventionally. The in bed trunk is huge. The 2017 Ridgeline is a very comfortable SUV with a really big trunk.

Awesome transition from my sedan

I had previously driven a sedan and did not want to give up the comfort or drivability when transitioning into something with capabilities for more carrying capacity, camping trips, road trips, towing a small boat, etc. Bought the 2018 Ridgeline and it offers it all with the comfort I haven’t seen in other trucks. Only thing I’ve disliked so far is the ugly grill. Too odysseylike. They need a blacked out option.

Best Riding Truck Ever

Have owned numerous pickups over the years. Most recently an 03 Tacoma for 14 years until totaled. New Tacomas are nice but the ride leaves a lot to be desired. After researching and test driving the Ridgeline I was sold. Bought it for $2874 under listwith only a CD player added. I would recommend buying the rubber mats on Amazon. Genuine Honda $68 less than dealer. 5 days after picking it up left on a trip from Ct to Sc. Total of 2200 miles driven, what a pleasure. My wife couldn't believe the ride quality. Averaged 24.6 combined for the trip. I know of the complaints about the premium info center but my model is older with knobs. Does everything I want. I never took the Tacoma off road nor towed with it. The Ridgeline is a perfect fit for what I need a pickup for. Weekly runs to the recycling center with occasional trips to HD or the garden center. This is the type of vehicle most pickup truck owners actually need. Updating review on 9/4/17. Still give truck 5 stars across the board. The more I drive the Ridgeline the more I enjoy it. Have added a hard tonneau cover since first review. This keeps the bed dry and the tailgate secure. Using the truck for trips is great. In the summer heat with the A/C on I have turned the econo mode off for better acceleration and betterA/C performance. I don't know whether it's because of the engine breaking in or the bed cover but latest trip over same previous route to SC increased mileage to 26.7. Again this truck is perfect for my needs. Have owned the Ridgeline for a year now. No problems what so ever. Continue to use the truck for trips and now have over 15,000 miles on it. Would change nothing. Still averaging over 26 mph on the highway and just over 19 in the city. Saw previous complaints about the heat. No problems in that area and I live in CT and had a very cold year. Usually set the heater on auto and it maintains a constant comfortable temp. Did add splash guards and this seems to minimize mud being thrown onto the rear quarter panel. I continue to enjoy the driving experience. Truck continues to perform. Have taken numerous long trips and gas mileage remains constant. Have not experienced any problems with the truck and now have over 28,000 miles on it. I would still strongly recommend the Ridgeline for anyone that it more interested in ride and on road performance than someone who wants a certain look and may go off roading. I have yet to take the truck off of a paved road. Latest update. Ridgeline now has over 34,000 miles on it. Continues to preform flawlessly. Most of the miles are highway, between Ct. and points south on the east coast. As previously stated the mileage and ride comfort are the two strongest points of ownership that impress me. Latest trip I averaged 28.4 mpg highway and at times without the a.c. On attained over 30. Truly impressive. Have just purchased a 2019 Accord but my wife and I believe the Ridgeline is superior on long trips. Zero problems as far as maintenance is concerned. I plan I having this vehicle for a long time. Four years and six months later the Ridgeline continues to impress. Zero problems. Ride is still above any other truck I have driven and better than so cars. 44,000 plus miles and the mileage has actually gotten slightly better. Still a great road trip vehicle. Currently have 60,000 miles on the Ridgeline without one issue besides normal maintaince. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Eight years of ownership without an issue. Now have 62,000 miles on the truck, still love it. Have no need to update.

Loving my Ridgeline

So much better than the Chevy Colorado it replaced. More room, more comfort, better handling, great storage and bed space. No locking tailgate is the only negative i can find and i just ordered an OEM lock kit so that will be done. Honda's certified used warranty is nuts. 7 year 100000 mile power train and 4 year 48K mile total vehicle warranty from in service date. Made more sense to buy a 2 year old truck with 13K miles than a new one. Very happy so far after 3 weeks.
