OK- Not as Great as We Had Hoped
We do not love this van as much as we had hoped we would. We have three kids, age five and under, and yes, it is great with the kids. Easy to get everyone in and out, plenty of space, and the kids love it. It does make my life easier. But... road noise on the highway is really bad. Fuel economy is the pits. We seem to be getting far fewer mpg than other Ody drivers - not sure why. I had heard this about the Ody before we purchased, but didn't pay much attention. Wish I had! Around town we get 11-12 mpg -- yes, that's right! And pure highway driving with cruise control, we get about 17-18 mpg. Might as well be driving a big 3 row SUV! In the minivan category, wish we had gone with the Sienna.
08 EXL vs 10 Touring
We traded our 08 (50K) for a 2010 touring. We liked the low belt line and style of the 2010 vs the 2011. Honda Incentives helped lower the cost. The 2010 touring is quieter than the EXL and both 2010s quieter than my 08. Other improvements over the 08; exterior paint, matte finish on silver dash trim (hides finger prints), interior plastic seems more scratch resistant, ride quality. From day one our new 08 had minor suspect sub-frame noise and a loose feeling front suspension. The touring drive dynamics feel more substantial. Style, ride quality, reduced noise, and improved radio trumped touring cost premium. The 2010 end-of-production model should be more reliable than a new 2011.

I was a Honda lover
This van has only 150,000 miles on it and has EVERY service done either on time or before time. Then the check engine light came on and the thing felt and sounded like it was going to blow up. The dealership said that it needed to be re-ringed, a 3000 plus job. That this was a "known" issue that and Honda had pushed the warranty out to eight years because of it, but sorry your just out of the warranty. American Honda customer service center said they know nothing about this issue, even though it is talked about online in many places, and "We are so sorry there is nothing we can do". The company that was known for its long engine life has failed and they don't care. I will never own another Honda! It is sad that companies will not stand behind their product anymore.

Build Quality of Honda Taking a Dive
Within the first week I had been back to the dealer 3 times for quality defects to be corrected, clear coat spray on the windshield, a torn seat cover, a bumper coming off and now we have found the carpet next to the drivers side seat not completed. Have already driven 150 miles and spent nearly 2 days having quality defects corrected. Honda of America has been useless in the process. I've had a Honda for the past 30 years with great results, not sure yet but this one may be my last. Our "new" car was built in the Lincoln Alabama plant.
My 3rd Odyssey, probably not my last.
My 1st Honda Odyssey was a 2000. I put about 100,000 miles on it and traded it in on a 2005 model. I put 100,000 miles on it and traded it in for my 2010. All of them were the EX-L model. I always get the maximum Extended Honda Care warranty and used it to keep them running with NO extra expense. Very few repairs on any of them. My 2010 now has over 112,000 miles and everything works fine. GREAT vehicles. Although my daughter bought a 2012 and it has had numerous problems including having the engine rebuilt under warranty. They always had it serviced by the local Honda dealer. They are going to trade it when their extended warranty runs out next year. I will probably get another new Odyssey next year. Things I like; I can almost use it as a truck for hauling stuff. I use it as a camper when going to a motorcycle race event. Taller seat so I can see better than some cars that are so low. Plenty of seats for taking the family places. Reliability and resale value.
