2011 Odyssey EX-L w/ NAV
Purchased a 2011 Odyssey EX-L w/ NAVI 2 wks ago and really like it. Looked at the Pilot, but needed the 3rd row seating with trunk space and the Odyssey made the most sense and was more practical. Did a ton of research and compared it to the Sienna, but actually like the style, drive and interior more with the Odyssey. Wife was on the fence about driving/owning a mini van, but after 2 weeks she absolutely loves it. Kids have enough space to spread out between the 2 rows and trips to the store or kids sports activities are a breeze with car-pooling and the trunk space. I drive a luxury sedan which this doesnt compare to, but for a functional family vehicle, you cannot go wrong.
Our first Honda
As a life long vanner, I have owned nothing but full size vans or Astros. It was time to move as we have grand children. My wife has severe back issues. This van is much easier. for her to get in and out of. My grand children love it as I, just for the wide visibility. We plan on a trip to MN. in April and have no reservations about driving there and back. Possible 6000 mi. Had 74500 when we bought it. We plan on taking this van to a vannin event this summer. Remember....RESPECT THE VAN!!!!! Well 46000 mi later...only put an alternator and battery. Normal maintenance tires oil etc. Having timing belt changed and adding tranny cooler. Love this van. made for road trips. again, respect the van!

oil consumption
I purchased the 2010 odyssey van in august 2009 and it consumed 2.5 quarts of oil in the first 4500 miles. I took it to the dealer and they stated the consumption rate is normal and I didn't believe it for a second. We proceeded to do an oil consumption test which was performed in an unscientific manner after the oil was changed and topped off to the required 4.5 quarts (another story unto itself) and roughly 2k miles later it burned another quart. The dealer stated honda corp has a service bulletin out to tear the engine apart if it consumes one or more quarts per thousand miles. I would have never paid 35k for a vehicle which eats oil at this rate. Honda Corp needs to initiate a recall.
VCM Issue
VCM Variable Cylinder Management system needs an off switch. I hate it when it goes into vcm eco mode as it growls and vibrates. Dealership won't turn it off or add an on/off switch. A 6 cylinder engine should not run on 3 cylinders ever no matter what extra counter-balancers and shock mounts you add. Harley Davidson proved that you cant get all the vibrations out of an engine that runs out of balance. Road and wind noise is still a Honda exclusive no charge feature.
Avoid Honda
Transmission slipping. I thought Honda had fixed this problem, apparently not. Avoid Honda.
