A smooth feel, What? No spare?

The lower packages do not come with fun colors but are still well equipped. Like about 80% of the cars in LA that are near new you can get white with a black interior. The drive train is astonishingly smooth and acceleration from 15 to 45 is awesome, but oh, once you start to rely more on the Atkinson cycle engine it becomes more noise than push.(new comment: If you put the drive train into Sport Mode, hold on! It gives a respectable response that certainly puts my '87 Lincoln Towncar to shame.) If you don't have it in Sport mode--beware of that drop off! I almost got crushed by a gas tanker semi! I usually drive judiciously so I would not withhold my recommendation. For an easy rider it is awesome! (New comment: The suspension is firm, the vehicle never leans; and yet, travel is astounding! I inadvertently dove into intersection drainage culvert expecting a bad jolt. Wow! It was silky smooth! 1)One big drawback is there is not a spare tire; there is a pump and tire repair kit. That is no comfort when you are on a hot desert road miles from cell service. Designers need to figure this one out. When that tire light (TPMS) comes on in the instrument display, my heart stops. I can put on a spare, I can't fix a ruined tire. ADDENDUM: This vehicle has been the most trouble-free car I have ever owned. It just goes with amazing reliability. WARNING: Do not use the Brake Hold system in the car wash line. What a panic that was! Cancelling brake hold in the middle of a crisis was not intuitive.

Overall I like the car although I was quite surprised that that the Touring Hybrid model side mirrors fold in manually and not automatically. The info system is hard to navigate through the menus especially if you are driving. It does ride very well and it’s comfortable.

Cyclists beware/disappointing gas mileage

Solid Honda quality but if you are a cyclist who wants to use a hitch rack you are out of luck - the vehicle is not rated for towing and Honda apparently doesn't even want you to install a hitch for a bike rack. So if you want a small hybrid SUV that that is bike friendly, you'd better get a Toyota. 8 month update: I am increasingly disappointed with the mileage. I'm barely getting 35mpg overall than the 38mpg advertised. In fact, the car seems to get worse mileage on short haul, low speed trips around town. Also, I note that compared with the regular fuel vehicle there are much fewer internal storage options. So I cannot recommend the vehicle as a hybrid. Either get the regular gas version or, if you must have a hybrid, get a Toyota - I wish I had. 14 month review: Gas mileage has not improved. Still about 35mpg. It's a nice car. Just not a very good hybrid or SUV with its inability to handle a trailer hitch even just for a bike.

Love my new Crv- hybrid. First I was average 33 mpg in the city till i learned these new tricks. 1)Use cruise control often 2)EV mode is not limited to 25 mpg 3)While you're driving with cruise control either it 35,40,45 or 50 mpg and batteries is over half charged press EV mode. 4)My highest mpg average is 45 in the city

Do The Math Before Buying!

Do The Math before buying any Hybrid! Right now, the CRV Hybrids are going for sticker. So that’s $36,201 for a Touring w/ winter mats & wheel locks. I just bought a 2020 gas Touring (w/ winter mats & wheel locks) for $32,678. Difference is $3,523. Hybrid avg mpg estimate is 38. Gas avg mpg is 29. In 10,000 miles, the gas model uses 346 gallons. In 10,000 miles, the Hybrid model uses 263 gallons. So every 10,000 miles, the Hybrid saves 82 gallons of gasoline. At $2.50 a gallon = $205. At $3.00 a gallon, it’s $246. So at 100,000 miles; that’s 820 gallons; which saves you $2,050 if gas is $2.50; or $2,460 if it goes up to $3.00/gallon. And by the time you hit 100,000 miles, you’ll be replacing the high-voltage battery pack — a job that’s ~$3,500.00! So at 100,000 miles; the Hybrid buyers will have spent more than $7,000 to save themselves $2,000 - $2,500. NOTE: 100-mile trip in my 2020 gas CRV measured 36 mpg!
