2026 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews

Car does everything very very well!
After just under a week of ownership, I can't really find anything to complain about. Coming from a 2014 Limited Avalon, I do miss the cooled seats, but that car was 40k quite some time ago. For $34,000, this current-generation Civic is unbeatable. I've driven everything in this segment, including many on 24-hour test drives, and the Civic Hatch Hybrid truly stands out above the rest. I highly recommend it!

New car blues
In late August of 2024 we bought a new 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sport Touring. Within a week it had a computer problem. Back to dealer: "fixed" same day. A month or so later, same computer problem. Back to dealer. June 2025 (about 10-11 months later) same problem. Back to dealer. They also discovered it needed a new transmission. No problem. They have one conveniently available from their warehouse located on the back side of the moon: should be here fast. Drove loaner for a week or so. Got call to return that loaner and would be given another loaner as transmission had to be back-ordered from the Regional supply depot, accessed thru the local black hole: should be here fast. Went to the dealer and said, "Make me an offer." They gave me a deal in cash (to arrive in a month of so) and they get to keep the lemon. So, after losing $5000+ in approximately 11 months I am rid of that anvil. To be fair, model is nice looking, gets decent mileage (low 50's), drove nice but not reliable. I have owned, in the past 15-20 years or so, two Subaru, three Toyota and three Honda: this Civic had more problems and more dealer-time than all these cars combined. I don't blame the dealer. All the staff were great. I don't actually blame Honda: I believe this is just the new-model gremlins. Same day we booted the Honda, went to local Toyota dealer and put money down on new Corolla hybrid: arrives today (one week). What an experience. dave

STILL LOVE IT
I absolutely love this car. I’ve been driving the Honda Civic hatchback EX for the last eight years and decided it was time to buy new. The new Honda Civic hybrid sport touring was way beyond my expectations. I can see why it won best of the best for 2025. The car starts off like you’re speeding across a cloud then when you hit the gas cruises up to your desire speed effortlessly. The electronics are amazing and the music system in the touring is wonderful. I’m looking forward to at least another eight years of happy driving in my Honda Civic. Six months on and this car still brings a smile to my face every time I sit in the cockpit. It’s so modest in its outward appearance, yet a wolf when you hit that power pedal. Still feels smooth as silk and I love playing with the regen paddles challenging my self to get the best mpg on every trip. Small cars are not for everyone but if you’re looking for a sports car that doesn’t break your heart or you bank look no further.

Collision Mitigation Braking nightmare
I have only had my '25 Civic Sport Hybrid car a few weeks, but I am frustrated and would love to get rid of it. I did a recent highway drive and for 3h it was on cruise control, 3x during that time the car interpreted a passing vehicle was in my lane and started the Collision Mitigation Braking protocol. So I am cursing at highway speeds and suddenly the car jams on its brakes - fortunately no one was behind and I wasn't rear ended, but how many more times will I get luck with this? I took it in to the dealer to have the sensors adjusted, and the mechanics told me to get used to this. Their cars do the same thing!!! Enjoy, it is unsafe and we don't care!!! I cannot wait to find out what other features on this brand new car they did not bother to work out before bringing the car to market. I could never recommend a Honda.

Sports Touring
I like all of the features; however, in the excitement of purchasing the car, I didn’t realize how low the car sat. At 72, I hope that I stay nimble enough in my future years to get in and out of the car!!! Also, since I have only driven 130 miles so far, the mileage per gallon isn’t close to the advertised mpg. That’s a disappointment. Update - mileage isn't close to mpg posted on the windows sticker. Can't get phone to play through car Bluetooth. Using the front windshield defroster, the windshield cracked from top to bottom. Love the heated seats since they help my back.
50 years on another Civic
My Civic history goes back 50 years to a new 1976 Hatch CVCC, I also had an '80 and '83 of that generation. New baby, low income at the time, long commute, dependable were key considerations. 40 years go by and I got the next Honda - a 2024 ST Hatch last January after "growing up" and selling my Golf "R". I was disappointed with the driving dynamic and CVT after the Golf R manual. I tested the ST hybrid in November and was amazed by the difference that 20 hp and 50 lb-ft of torque and the difference in "transmission" with the electric motor makes. Amazing! Otherwise its the same great CIvic. Nits are the passenger seat position, stock tires, absence of homelink and SXM. I've adapted and accepted the later two. I'll upgrade the tires after I get a year or so out of them. That will improve handling further and maybe the road noise. Passengers will not notice the seating. I'll get a little towel for lumbar support. I paid sticker for the 2024 ST Hatch - $32,500. I was able to work a negotiated $3,000 off sticker for the hybrid in mid December - at $31,045 this is a steal.

Fun to drive, gas mileage, great dash and all controls, comfy seats, decent stereo Road noise but not a deal breaker (put on quiet tires) Gas and oil changes is all it needs plus 4 winter tires for canada winters

Giving 5 stars as of now (updated to 3 stars now)
I traded in a 2017 CR-V Touring because it was cheaper to trade and get a warranty than to fix my previous car. I got the Sport trim. Of course I lost features and I do honestly wish the Civic had them. Although it's a brand new car I still worry constantly because I said I wouldn't buy another Honda. I do however go to a dealership I trust over anyone so I'm a little more at ease. I actually won't go into detail yet until I get 5,000 miles on it. Currently a little under 1,000 on it. Updated February 1, 2025: I am not super happy about the purchase as the new has worn off and Honda is showing their non-reliablity once again with an issue I feel I shouldn't be having. I'll be getting with the dealership as soon as I can to see if what is happening is normal but I believe it's the transmission acting up. Also the dealership is a good one from what I've heard but the price of the car was $3,000 more (you know added on things like tint, floor mats, trunk tray and the film protection) which the film protection is peeling off and it's the door edge guards and the door handle cups have bubbles in the rear ones with dirt under it. My salesman said to bring it in to be fixed 🙄😒. I honestly should have shelled out the money to fix my previous car but hey..., you learn from mistakes.

The perfect Hybrid
This new Civic Sport Hybrid is hands down the best car I have ever owned. I’ve owned Lexus, Audi, BMW and Subaru and none of these vehicles came close to being as satisfying to drive and own. It was a breath of fresh air to buy a new vehicle that has the right amount of tech and performance wrapped into such a good package with the Civic Sport Hybrid. I was apprehensive at first about buying a hybrid but it all melted away once I drove the Civic. The effortless acceleration and nimble handling makes it feel like a much more expensive vehicle. The hybrid powertrain is smooth as glass and the transition from electric to gas or both yields no negative feedback during driving. The fuel economy of the vehicle is extremely good, no complaints there. The small amount of road noise is bearable and not a deal breaker. If you are on the fence about buying a Civic Hybrid, just do it! You won’t be sorry…
