Transmission Died at 95k

As a taller driver, I never really liked my Civic. Besides not really being comfortable, it's terrible to drive at night, has significant blind spots, and the steering was not real precise. There was a recall in 2015 issued (that did not cover my particular vin) for the 2014 that affected the software used for eco-mode. Well, my car wasn't covered under the recall, but the same problem eventually destroyed my transmission when it seized up at 95,000 and had to be replaced, which was a $6k repair.

2014 Civic Si

2014 Honda Civic Si 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

My best used car advice is to buy a 5-year-old Honda with under 50,000 miles. This is the third time I've used this formula, and I've yet to be disappointed. This is a solid all-around car. It doesn't do anything poorly, and is above par in many respects. A big plus in my opinion is the naturally aspirated engine, as I'm just not a fan of turbos, which you can get in the 2017+ Si models. As of 2019, this older platform is still being produced as the Acura ILX. The 2014 Si comes standard with 18" wheels. They are prone to damage. I don't embrace the big-wheel obsession that everyone seems to have, so I downsized to 16" and found the car rides much smoother. On the up-side, this car relies on the ABS system to determine if a tire is low, so no annoying TPMS sensors need to be installed inside of the rims. So far I love this car, and my friends who have driven it love it too.

Lots of bang for your buck

'14 Honda Civic Si Sedan. I needed the practicality that the sedan offered, & to be honest I like the way it looks better than the coupe. So far I've put about 1K miles on the car. Honda's manual gearbox is amazingly smooth and easy to drive. Engaging without being a pain. The car is quick for what it is: a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine. The exhaust note puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel, & acceleration on the Si allows for overtaking slower drivers with ease. The build quality of the car is fantastic both inside & outside. The ride quality is pretty good, bumps can be a little jarring but its not built for touring. Overall I am quite pleased with the car!

Typically solid Honda

2014 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Having already owned 3 Hondas, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect from the 2014 Civic. The superior build quality is typically Honda, as is the great gas mileage. The specifications and features are pretty high on the EX model, although there are some competitors (mainly Hyundai and Kia) who might offer 6 speed trans or satellite radio for example, within the same category/price range. That said, I'm a firm believer in the durability and craftsmanship found in every Honda model, so these are small sacrifices in my eyes. The car is beautifully finished overall, from the solid feel of the switches and controls on the interior, to the fit of the exterior panels, lights and trim.

My brand new 2014 Honda Civic EX keeps leaking!

I bought this car in Nov of 2014 to replace my old 1989 BMW because this last one had some terrible leaks. I was tired of dealing with this so I decide to finally purchase a brand new vehicle and say "good bye" to problems. Well, in August of 2015 (not even a whole year after the purchase) I took my new civic to get its first oil change after about 8000 miles. When I was picking up my car, the service guys at Honda recommended me to take care of an "important" leak (leak!) that the car has, What??? yes, my brand new Honda civic, which I bought to get rid of the leaks and issues that I was having with my old BMW, was leaking transmission fluid. At this point I have taken the car to repair the same issue two times. The people at Honda told me that the issue has to do with the o-ring and the rear main seal. They even applied a dye and kept the car overnight to "make sure" that the problem was fixed. At this exact moment (when I wrote this review) I had the suspicious that the car is still leaking. I am very frustrated with this car. At this point I feel like Honda sold me a brand new lemon car and that really irritates me. My only hope is that if I confirmed that the car is a lemon car, Honda refund me or replace my car for another one. Otherwise, I would never buy or recommend Honda again in my life. By the way, and just to be fair, despite of the very annoying leak that the car has, the car works great.
