Rattle rattle rattle
Maybe it's because They just redesigned the coupe for 2014, I'm not sure, but before hitting 1k miles I have two incredibly annoying rattles - one coming from the steering column and one coming from the back shelf above the rear seat. Took to dealership and of course they can't find it (doesn't help that all the roads in the area are freshly paved). Gas mileage is....okay. Where I live in N Florida it's incredibly hot and very hilly so not surprising that with the ECO I'm still only getting 25mpg city. Otherwise the car is great. Honda really revamped the Civic to compete well with other small cars.
EXL Sedan great value
This is my 74 car !! Went back to a Civic Exl from an Accord sport 2013 I guess I like smaller cars. I see some complain about gas mpg and this is all about your right foot. the Accord could range from low 20s to well over 40 as to the Civic, high 20s to 41 42 when being careful. Love the keyless entry , blind side, the car really has great features, and has a sporty feeling. Plain and simple this is a lot of car for the money !!!!
Love This Car!
After seeing many family members and friends over the years owning and loving their Hondas, I decided to give in and try one on myself. I am simply amazed. A compact car that is as roomy, comfortable, and quiet as a much larger, more expensive car. Steering feels great, turns quick, soaks up the bumps, sudden braking no problem, gives the driver a feeling of confidence. Acceleration could be a little better but it's acceptable from a 4 cylinder with automatic. I've gotten 37 mpg combined city-highway. Incredible value for the money.
Best car I've had. Major improvement over 2012 model
I leased this car and I've had it for a little over a month now, and I just LOVE this car!. I got a bang for my buck!. I had a 2012 EX prior to this car and this car is eons better!. The styling is awesome!. The steering is sportier, the interior is better built and I love the push button start, LaneWatch and backup camera. I need a backup camera due to limited range of motion from surgery. I pay $80 less than I did for my 2012 but get more for my money. The car rides smoothly but don't expect it to be like my Mom's Lexus or even my Dad's Acura though. I was originally going to get a Subaru for good traction for Illinois winters but the Subaru felt dull and dated compared to my new Civic.
Gas mileage, NAVI and acceleration not as expected
UPDATE 5/25/2018 - Acceleration still a major issue. Every time I take my car to Honda for service I complain about this issue and they tell me there is nothing wrong with it. They tell me it's a new feature and I have to drive the car differently. What??? Not acceptable. Very disappointed with Honda to actually come out with an answer like this. The gas mileage is definitely not as I expected. My 2006 Civic EX that I traded in had better gas mileage with over 100,000 miles on it. I have it set with ECON all the time and I feather the gas petal to a point that I almost get in an accident for slow acceleration, and still only get 34-36 MPG at best. I have yet to get over 380 miles on a tank full. I use to get 425 plus on my 2006 Civic with the same gas tank size. Also, the NAVI system is terrible. No spoken street names for a 2014 model???, are you kidding. Plus it is not very intuitive and can't make changes as you drive. Big waste of money. The only good thing is there is no other GPS device mounted to the dash. UPDATE 5/25/2017 - Also, a very serious issue, the acceleration is horrible from the start. When you step on the accelerator from a stop there is a major hesitation which is VERY dangerous. When going out in the highway from a stop the acceleration actually stops for a period of time and doesn't move and eventually picks up after 2-3 seconds. Very dangerous!! I brought back the car to her dealership every time I service it and they tell me the same thing, that there is nothing wrong with it, and that with this new CVT transmission I have to learn to drive it differently. What?? I have brought it back to 3 different Honda dealers and they all tell me the same thing. That is not acceptable. This is very dangerous. I have noticed all over the Internet complaints about the acceleration as well. I love the car, but that is definitely a big issue.
