Where to start this review. I must say, this car is a great value. It's quiet on the highway and in the city. So many little small features that you never expect. The i-MED screen is customizable and the headlights go off if you leave them on. Gas mileage is great. Eco mode does save you save gas while driving in the city, but at a expense of off-the-line acceleration. I love how the blinker you can tap and it does 3 blinks for you to change lanes. The headlights are great at night and the car handles great. I must say, I am still learning how to use all the features on this car. I have had it since March. I have achieved 43.7 mpg hwy on a 100 mile round trip, eco mode on. Handles GREAT!

First and foremost, this is a "mild hybrid", meaning that it does not have a second engine to control the drive train - when on battery only it stops the gasoline flow to the engine and it uses the small battery to drive the pistons of the gasoline engine. There is not a button to push that forces the car into EV mode like a Prius, the car decides when you are in a situation that does not require much torque and will drop into battery-only mode for a short while until the battery is just below half empty, upon which the car will force recharge the battery using the gasoline engine. Braking and coasting charges the battery, but if you floor the gas or otherwise ask for power, the battery will assist the gasoline engine to provide a little more power. There is a governor for fuel consumption - just press the Econ button on the dash and you can be forced to use less fuel by driving slower (I always have this engaged). My daily 15 mile commute has some fairly big hills and my mileage suffers due to those uphills, but I am averaging about 52 MPG since I purchased the vehicle : http://www.fuelly.com/car/honda/civic/2013/boomer0127/218714 The vehicle itself overestimates its mileage by about 2 MPG. Winter average is about 48 MPG, summer is about 56 MPG give or take. Overall it is a great value because i force the issue with the fuel consumption, I find that my wife who doesn't care much about trying to get good mileage gets around 42 MPG, but she doesn't drive very far so that can skew it also. The most frustrating thing is trying to get the car into battery mode - sometimes it just refuses to do it, sometimes it just starts idling on its own at a traffic light. I will probably drive this vehicle into the ground, the battery warranty is 150K so I've got at least another 4 years in this thing. The navigation is interesting but mostly useless in the days of smartphone nav apps. The best thing about the car is that it is a hybrid that does not look like a prius, it looks like a civic. It is unfortunate that Honda discontinued the civic hybrids but i understand that nobody was buying them because of their poor stated MPG. **update - mileage is still hanging on, fuelly tells me I am getting about 51 MPG on average. car still frustrates me but I know I am doing better than most, even Praises. I am upset about the maintenance costs at 100K, have to change out 8 spark plugs at $30 a pop, and changing the low beam headlight was a nightmare. Why can't the negative battery terminal release from the main battery??? Overall, still a good value but I feel like I will never get my investment back because gas prices are too cheap. Only saving a few hundred bucks a year in gas and this thing cost about $4K more than a standard civic. Still trying real hard to get good mileage.

2013 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

i had a '03 civic ex with 131k miles and for 10 yrs, it was nearly perfect. in its 11th year it was showing its age just a little. i think i got spoiled at not having to put money into it, outside of regular maintenance. anyway, i figured almost 11 yrs was a pretty good run and honda had 0.9% for *60* months, which is rare for honda. also, the 2013 got really good reviews as a bounce back from a semi-disappointing 2012 model. the comfort of the seats (tho i've read some complaints) and the road noise is MUCH improved from my '03 model, aswell, imo. the technology made a big jump, too. the back up camera is nice. i hope the reliability continues. my former civic was the best car i've owned, BY FAR. after 3 yrs, i'm still very happy with my purchase. my one complaint is the MPG isn't always as good as i'd hoped when doing city driving (even with the econ button on). i have a pretty heavy foot, however. on longer, highway trips (using cruise), the MPG has been very good. i also wish it had a push button start but the new ones have them now. the original tires only lasted about 25k miles. that was disappointing, aswell, but it seems like this is always the case with new cars.

I bought this car because of a need for a reliable car and it has lived up to its expectation. Looks wise it's awesome. With its aerodynamic posture and sporty looks... Something you can't get with other brands. Coupe looks like it's own model. Interior wise it's a good mix with colors but what is most impressing is the dash and screen that displays a large amount of information. Performance wise it has enough power to pass and accelerate without you having to gun it. 140 hp and 39 mpg without a turbo? You thank it later down the road when you won't have to pay for repairs becauase the engine won't have added stress from a turbo. I love this car and plan to keep it for a very long time.

I've had this car for 12 days, & I've got 1,500 miles on it. I love it so much so far, but I can't really speak truthfully about its reliability b/c I haven't had any problems w/ it since I haven't had it for very long at all. I drive about 75% highway & 25% city, & I have an average of 36.75 MPG.
