Good car but not for me
I have nothing against my Si. It's a quick little car but there are a few things i dont like about it. First off, if you're not shifting every 2 seconds you will find yourself winding every gear out to almost 5k rpms. You almost need to do this with the lack of torque that the Si has. My '92 Sentra SE-R(151k miles) is so much more enjoyable to drive and picks up a lot better around town. If I had to do it over again I would have just bought the sentra and saved the other 15 grand I wasted.
Civic Si
When the first Si came out i told my self that someday i will have one of those, and fortunaly i bought mine in January of this year, and man do i love it. I have been into imports all my life and love the sound of a fixed up 4 cylinder, its really great when you pull up next to a domestic and you kick their butt :). I have added aftermarket parts to my Si and it really got the Vtec strong, I mean what other car boost your power 10 times greater from 5500rpm to redline which is 8000rpm who can complain with that. Im keeping this car for a long time and i know i will have no problems with it.
Could have been better
Honda quality has been negated by the poor workmanship at the Ohio plant. While the car runs well, there are a few visible spotty workmanship evident by unflushed fenders/headlight. One biggest annoying thing: getting in and out of the car is the most uncomfortable experience in using the car: the car is way too low!!!
Not so good
I have my Civil for almost 2 years, haven't driven it much until recently I starting working outside of the city. Had a small accident. The car I hit had no damage, but my civil was awful. It was a small hit in the front but I'm estimate to pay 3 grand to get the hood and the radiator frame to replace. And now that I'm on the highway all the time, the car does not pick up fast enough. It's too slow for my opinion. Overall, the car is reliable and performs well for what it's worth, but the build quality is awful. A slight hit, and you'll see major damage on your car. I would not buy this car again or recommend anyone to buy a civil.
Impressive
Bought it as a new car in 2000 (first Honda car), with the idea to keep it for about 5 years. After 8 1/2 yrs and 100K I still cannot convince myself to give it away. As other people have mentioned, it only needs gas besides scheduled maintenance. I did not have to change as much as a light bulb outside maintenance. Great mileage 30-32 in suburban traffic, 36 on the hwy. Drove it 2500 miles across US during moving in only 3 days: no problem. Incredibly stable and agile considering it's a small car with 106 hp. Next one will be a Honda for sure ...
