Taurus is back.
My new Taurus is far superior to my 2000 Taurus. That car was fine at the time but the new Taurus has more power and comfort. And it's easy to change the oil filter. I change my own oil because I use synthetic and I need to cut the cost. I also only use pure gasoline which contains no ethynol. I expect to get 300,000 miles out of this one.
I love my car!
I have been drooling at the new Taurus since it re-emerged in 09. I rented an SEL twice for family trips. However, never thought I would buy one. The Mustang was on top of the list. I bought my Limited back in June. Since then, I have been on a road trip to Oklahoma to visit family and we drove my car the whole time. Couldn't get my sister out of the driver's seat. In July, my brother and I took a 6,000 mile road trip through MO, TN, Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway. Couldn't get him out of the driver's seat. Bottom line, this is one of Ford's finest. Beamers, Lexus, Audi, et al, you have been matched. Everyone wants to race me when I drive to work. I just sit back and smile. Awesome!
Great car but......
The serious fault with the 2011 Taurus Limited is that it as ALL electronic. That means that if the battery dies with the doors locked, you may not be able to exit the vehicle. There is no manual override for opening the doors from inside. The same is true for the trunk, [where most keep the jumper cables]. If you live near water and a collision sends you into a lake, river and the battery fails, or vehicle catches fire, you will have to break the windows to escape. That said I am impressed with the amount of electronic features on this Taurus Limited. It does lack a tire pressure psi readout monitor and oil pressure guage, but the radar type warning system and back up cam are noteworthy. The features rival other manufacturers' luxury cars.

This car has the best nav/media system out of any of the others we drove it requires a monthly fee for the extras from Sirius but it's worth it IMO it makes the car feel even more special when your driving. Its a sexy car the seats are comfy the cooled seats are amazing lots of room in the back a hair slower than others in the quarter but drive it you'll really never notice plus torque band is flat so shifts are extremely smooth. But as a family sedan its good looking smooth ride and roomy and lots of gadgets to make the car special no matter the trim level.
