Fair Review
Bought it used from Carmax to use as second vehicle with more hauling capability. Have sold primary auto now (Mercedes SUV) and find the daily driving of the Ranger is very satisfying. Great acceleration. Nice looks. Good handling and brakes.
problem child
i dont like the 2001 ranger because i cant keep it out of the shop as soon as i get it back something else goes wrong with it i might just have a lemon but for any one looking its very quick for a compact truck and you gotta love the styling

Tranny Troubles
At 77k I have replaced the trans twice as well as the brakes twice. Great looking truck and the few times I have taken it off raod it has performed great. I can't see myself buying another one.
Never Again
The vehicle itself is not bad. It's Ford that I would do business with again. They replaced the Firestone tires with Goodyear tires. They were defective, the dealer disputed it and refused to replace them. I threw them out, and paid to replace them. When I contacted Ford directly, I was informed I had purchased the best selling truck. In other words, tough luck. In addition, 4.0L engine, California emission = pitiful gas mileage, under 18 around town.
Great Ride AND Dependable
I am very pleased with my Edge. It is head and shoulders above other small trucks.
