Awesome Driving Experience, Mediocre Software

I got a red one and it looks amazing - I am satisfied that it has no panel gaps. My experience with the ordering process When you order online, make sure you find a dealer that does not have markup. In addition, if you have "X plan pricing" ensure the dealer will honor that. When you're vehicle finally arrives (mine took 9 months due to chip shortages and whatnot), go to dealer, tell them if you have the X Plan (if so, make sure you print out the email, bring the appropriate work id). Do the paper work and you'll also get to do a test drive if you haven't already - decline all the addons offered by the finance guy. Other than that, it's pretty hassle free. I do appreciate the sales rep explaining the basic software features of the car. Anything more advanced, and you're better off looking for answers at online forums. About the car: CONS - only one key fob (Ford has probably heard this feedback a lot, but they want people to use Phone as a Key, which is not reliable at the time of writing) - ground clearance is comparable to a sedan - the front bumper is just a tad taller than the curb - not ideal for areas with pot holes which typical SUVs can handle - Infotainment system can't play videos when parked PROS - It drives like an ICE car, but can accelerate much faster without having to 'waste gas' (electricity is much cheaper) - The handling around turns is nice for a small SUV - A speedometer behind the steering wheel - Wireless Android Auto & Apple Car Play - The cool night time welcome lights (puddle lights) with the electric pony logo I'd give it a 4.7 - though the software features aren't quite there, the "car" functionality is all there and more.

Not ready for the northern states

Very cool car, very cool technology, but the battery is NOT at all ready for cold Minnesota weather. It is fine in moderately cold weather, say 20 degrees. Once it starts dropping around zero or below that and you're using heat like a normal vehicle, expect to lose range in a major HUGE dangerous hurry. For example, on a cold MN day around -5 degrees, I had to run some errands to a neighboring city. Round trip was about 75 miles. I left my house with a full 100% charge. By the time I got home, my battery was around 3% with the car warning me to charge or risk freezing to death on the side of the road. When it's that cold outside, it's just too dangerous to trust a battery powered vehicle. Further, I ended up having to charge the vehicle so often, on top of heating my garage that I spent more money than I would have on a standard gas vehicle. I work nights, and so my vehicle was parked outside in the extremely cold all night. I'd easily lose 30 miles of range just from it sitting outside overnight. I'm not ragging on the car entirely. There are some definite pros for sure. It handles fabulously in the snow and ice. It gets up and goes in a quick hurry. It is very fun to drive, and turns a lot of heads because it's a sweet looking ride. In a warmer state, I think it would be a great investment. I will say that I obviously expected to lose some range in the cold weather, but didn't expect it to be this bad. It got to the point that in order to go anywhere out of town, I would drive without any heat at all and just bundle up. My local Ford dealership was honest, and told me straight up from the beginning that they did not know how it would be in the very cold weather as I was basically their first EV buyer. However, I do feel that I was misled by Ford itself as a company. Everything I read online from Ford and the videos I watched presented the car as being ready for the cold. Maybe it would be fine in Colorado cold, but it certainly isn't fine in Minnesota cold. Up here it gets Canada cold, and the battery range was a major disappointment for me. I ended up trading after a few months for an all gas vehicle. Perhaps in a few years if they can figure out how to make the battery last longer, but around here I'd definitely stick with all gas or hybrid at a minimum.

Our new Mach-E premium trim in rapid red is AWESOME! The take off pushes you back into your seat. Very roomy for your family of four! It was a gift for the wife, she loves it! Only con was ford should have a better set-up for getting the customer a level 2 charging station. To be more informative to the consumer. I know it should also be the customer DD, to be there part, but i believe if FORD got a program in place to get customer up and running ASAP, it would help push a purchase. I just bought ours and I am still dealing with SCE and finding someone who can install it. i might get installed by end of month, for now its my local Walmart. Love the car though!!!

We have wanted an electric vehicle for some years. First descriptions of the Mach E were very appealing so we reserved our First Edition the first day available (November, 2019) We were told we were the first delivery in our locale, one month ago. We were immediately impressed by the good looks and very happy with the interior finishes. The seats are particularly comfortable and there is ample room in the back seat. I am tall, but no problem with headroom. There was a learning curve for all the electronics, as we never were even passengers in all EV, and not too technically savvy, but it was not excessively long. Handles very well. We haven't traveled any long distance so range has not been an issue. I was particularly impressed when a Lexus driver got out of his SUV to stop and take a picture of my Rapid Red Mach E. Update: We have had our MachE for 18 months. We have taken trips of about 300 miles. By planning ahead, we were able to fast charge after 200-250 miles. The range we experience can be over 300 miles, depending on speed (280 miles at 70-75 MPH, 300-310 miles at 65 mph) Handling on back roads is superior. Highway driving is very comfortable. Ride has been better than any ICE vehicle we have owned (including luxury vehicles) Our only difficulty has been problems with phone as a key. After updates from Ford, is now working well. Overall, we would definitely purchase again.

We purchased the Mach E AWD with extended battery. I have waited a while to post our experience to-date for reasons you will se below. We purchased this vehicle in July, 2021. It was ordered in January 2021. Placing the order was made very easy and we were locked in with a $500 down payment. The car arrived approximately when expected. Our experience at the Ford dealer was very poor. It was very clear that this dealership had received very little training and one of the sales reps treated my wife in a manner that is not to be tolerated all! The car is great to drive. Very crisp acceleration, comfortable seating both in front and extra passengers in the back. Storage in the front is great for phones, cups etc. The ride is a little stiff, battery life is as predicated with the exception of cold weather. This car is parked inside (always) and left plugged in during cold weather. With this we would lose about 30% of battery life due to weather conditions. Just a heads-up. The software of this vehicle is definitely a work in progress. Since we receive only one key fob drivers need to set a phone (app) connection to complete (one hopes?) most functions of the vehicle. Please keep your fob close by as this car will not always recognize your phone app. It may not recognize your phone to start your car, unlock the doors. Having different profiles logged into the system for to different drivers (and separate phones) is a challenge for this car. It would not automatically recognize the different driver to initiate their profile. More on this in a moment. The SW is not intuitive at all. I have yet to locate a method of opening the trunk from inside the car? I use my phone or fob. With the SW issues we have had and having 2 re-calls to re-seal the front windshield and the window in the top of the vehicle I attempted to get scheduled for re-call completion. Re-calls are a common occurrence and I thought this would be straight forward. My experience with local dealers was less than good. Initially the dealership where purchased had no idea how to fix the re-called items. In calling additional Mach E dealers in our area responses ranged from receiving no return calls, to "we cannot do that re-call here", "I will put you on our wait list and call you to set-up and appointment" (have yet to receive a call from this dealership). Finally I connected with the dealer- service department that took some responsibility to investigate the re-call, develop a plan to complete the fix and support the car with any software updates. I even called Ford Customer Service..........they could not locate the re-call codes for these re-calls. These calls were a total waist of time. The re-call was documented by Ford on September 2021. This work was completed in April of 2022. It seemed to take this long for communications between Ford and the dealer to get a plan? Was it a service department issue? Was it a collision department responsibility? Eventually it got done plus there were 28 software updates completed. I was not aware that there were any updates needed? We do like driving this vehicle. We get many complements about its looks and questions about the performance. We want to reduce our carbon foot print and still think it is the correct thing to do. But with anything totally new there will be issues. I have listed a few. I am placing these experiences (to-date) only to have Ford make improvements in the whole experience not just being proud of getting this vehicle to market.I do understand that this a new platform for Ford. I expected there to be issues hence this information to consider. I have not received any follow-up from Ford requesting experience with the Mach E. I might assume that good manufacturers would want real-life-experience in order to make improvements? Now the hard part....................keeping it on the market and the customer experience(s). Safe driving to all!!
