LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP
HAVE HAD SEVERAL SMALL PROBLEMS: FRONT BEARINGS CHANGED, HORN AND CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT (TOGETHER),PEELING INTERIOR TRIM FINISH. 4.10 REAR IS GEARED TOO LOW. NOT ENOUGH POWER IN 4WD HIGH. HORRIBLE GAS MILAGE. RIDES LIKE CRAP. HOWEVER, THERE IS NOTHING THIS VEHICLE CANNOT DO. IT MAY NOT DO A GREAT JOB AT ANYTHING, BUT IT WILL ACCOMPLISH ANY TASK YOU CAN THROW AT IT. THE MOST DISSAPPOINTING FEATURE OF THIS VEHICLE IS THAT WITH A LITTLE MORE REFINEMENT, FORD COULD HAVE HAD A TRUELLY UNIQUE WORLD CLASS VEHICLE WITHOUT RIVAL. SO CLOSE,YET SO FAR AWAY.IN ADDITION, THE HORRIBLE RESALE VALUE MAKES GETTING OUT OF ONE DIFFICULT.
Sport Trac - American Car
The Sport Trac is the second Ford I have owned. In my experience the quality has been outstanding but fuel economy has been worse than any of the several foreign vehicles I've owned. Took it to repair shop; they did computer analysis; couldn't find a problem. Suggested using premium gas which didn't help only cost me more money to buy! I'm going back to foreign made especially with gas prices today.

No Faith in Ford Quality - Sport Trac
I loved the Sport Trac when I first purchased in April, 02. But one transmission, 2 other tow's from my driveway, busted electronics, broken power window motor, snapped door handle, as well as many rattles and jingles, well, the thrill is gone. I purchased this new vehicle for dependibility, but it is the least dependable vehicle I have, and it's the NEWEST vehicle I have! In process of shopping around for a replacement. Some area's are just 'thrown' together, with foam here and plastic there, some which doesn't fit. That and the mechanical problems lost all faith in Ford for me and the fam.
Next Truck will be one of these too!
I purchased mine used and it has been great. It has the rust trap running boards but for a couple hundred bucks, that's fixed. The rear window likes to think there's an obstruction if the window is wet and it won't roll up. But, I will buy a new one when this one finally dies. I never once got stuck in the harsh Midwest ice storms and snows of last year. People complain about ride quality, but this is one of the nicest riding trucks I have ever had. It has a nice look, nice features, nice abilities. Gas mileage could be better, but again, truck. My wife even likes it and she is used to a Grand Cherokee with a luxury car ride and feel.
Sport Trac
Purchased with 75 mi on it, now at 160000. Bought Gold Warranty, will never purchase again, it covered nothing. Transmission came "unsealed" at 16k mi, said it was normal wear and tear. Continued transmission issues, gaskets come unsealed often and the electrical issues are huge. Windows won't roll up and down, door locks wont work, even manually (can only get in through passenger manual key lock). Constant repairs.
