Sold my Prius to buy this. Mileage is stuck at 39
To start with let me say that I really like my C-Max. The 47/47 mileage rating however is a joke. I have been trying so hard to get my mileage up higher and it just isn't going up. I now have 2,400 miles on the car with City mileage about 70%. I sold my 2007 Prius to buy this. Was ready for a new car, needed more space. Looked at several other models including the Prius V. The C-Max is just more fun to drive, quieter great build quality with a couple of exceptions. Coming out of a Prius I am used to babying the car, drifting into red lights and stops, watching up ahead to let the accelerator off early. I don't punch it ever except to get on the freeway. With all that just 39.3 mpg.
Needs 3rd transmission at 140K miles
My wife bought it used with 49K on the odometer. Within two weeks it was stopping in the middle of the road. It went to the dealership for repairs and they did something in the transmission. Two weeks later it's on the side of the road again, dead. This time they replaced the entire transmission. T'he C-Max drives along good for two years, and then a month out of warranty the thing won't start again. There's a sensor inside the transmission that can't read if the vehicle is in Park. Normally this sensor is under the hood, but Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily) in it's wisdom put it inside the transmission. Now it needs another transmission. No matter how we work the math, we're upside down in this vehicle. My wife and I agreed we'll never buy another Ford again, and I suggest you steer clear of this car too.

Mileage - A true account
You'll receive 80% of what you've paid for. Does not go over 25 mph from stop to gas engine engage. Use the heater and lights and mpg goes to around 27 at 60 mph with cruise. Summer with air conditioning gets 35 mpg in town if you're lucky. Colder, higher country (Idaho, Montana, etc) doesn't carry CMax on their lots. Lots of gleeming claims on various sites, maybe a lot of marketing sending spam? I've spoken with other actual owners and they report the same problems. I have over 4,000 miles & been in twice for "updates" on system, maybe now my clock will keep better time and my smart phone will sync up every time - but I'm not holding my breath.

Great for in town
This is a really good little car for putzing around town but is not at all comfortable on the highway. The leather heated seats are well padded but the car is so small that you feel the highway. Gas mileage is phenomenal with highway mileage at 40+mpg. The amount of space in the car is quite surprising given the overall size of the car. There is ample headroom.
