Outstanding Truck
This has been by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. At 125K miles there have been zero mechanical failures. The Cummins diesel is a joy to drive, smooth and powerful with excellent fuel economy - 20+ mpg on highway, 15 mpg carrying a very large truck camper. It pulls large trailers like a breeze. The truck is mechanically still like new. The split bench seats with the fold- down console are extremely comfortable, it is far more pleasurable to drive on a long trip than our similar 2001 Ford F-250 with captain's chairs. The only problem I have had so far is cosmetic, the paint is beginning to pimple and crack from Dodge's poor primer system.

Very nice truck to drive
I love my truck
I have a Reg cab 2wd 3500 dually diesel with an Auto. I Have 178k miles on her and I just rebuilt the Tranny and had a mild upgrade done to it. I added 4" exhaust and a cold air filter other than that its stock. The truck fires right up in a split second. I had to replace the steering box...at 170k...no biggie...for the most part it been a great truck. the dash cracks as everyone knows... Yes I would get another one!
Luxury workhorse
I stepped up from a '96 1500. I was needed the additional hauling capacity as I have 32' trailer I use to haul 5 horses. I've hauled it from Greensboro, NC to Chicago, IL and back on a three day trip with no hassles. The Cummins TurboDeisel handled the mountains of WV without dropping from the posted speeds. The cab is well designed with all controls w/in easy reach.
Towing Buddy
I bought this truck to tow a fully loaded 34-foot fifth wheel camper in the Appalachia Mountians and she is a willing partner. The Low Range and 4wd make it possible to get the camper in almost anywhere. The 12 valve Cummings Turbo Diesel sounds like a big rig and when matched with the 5 speed manual transmission, you can putt down the highway at low rpms. 3rd gear will climb any highway mountain at 45 mph at full tow. A good contractors cap keeps the ride less bouncy when not runnig with loads. Diesel Fuel costs can swing more than gas. But if you need to tow heavy things, this is a hard truck to beat.
