Reliable over long haul

I bought my truck new 10 years ago and have drove 176,000 miles. Overall a good quality truck. I replaced the transmission at 120,000 miles but no other big ticket repairs. It has been a good truck but has always sucked a lot of gas through the 5.9 l engine (about 14mpg).

OK, Here it goes. I bought the truck from a dealer used (6-months old). Two days after taking deliverly, the transmission lost all the gears leaving me stranded. It took two weeks to fix it then about 1 week later it was back at the dealer for more transmission related problems ,,things like torque converter, pumps etc... This truck has been the worst vehicle of my life. I've have lost any respect that I had for the DODGE. They have not been helpful at all. Now three years later...the tranny is slippy again and I will again return it back to dodge and see what they have to say.and yes I have fought with lemon laws and suprisingly lost :(

I purchased this truck new with 43 miles on it after a 1996 that I bought used with 3000 miles on it was a lemon. I did put over 115,000 miles on it. I traded it in for this 2000 Dodge that has over 163,000 miles at this time. No major problems at all. I just get regular oil changes, tune up, brakes and routine maintenance. I am going to buy a Jaguar sportwagon soon but I am not getting rid of the truck. As for the mileage. On my recent roundtrip from California to Texas, the average mpg was 16 to 20. I came back loaded to the top and the least mpg was 14. The most major thing that I have done is replace the front spindle at about 60,000 miles.

Great Truck - Still runs great in 2009

I bought this truck used in 2003 with 57000 miles. I've been driving it for six years now and have accumulated 130000 miles. I had to replace the transmission at 95000 miles but everything else is still running as new. Sure, after being 9 years old, it is starting to show rust around the rear fenders and cab corners but other than that I'm still happy as can be with it. I don't plan on buying another vehicle for years to come. Tons of power and performance, great sound, and awesome looks.

additional... Oh....the other thing I have the Mag 5.9L engine....what a gas HOG. The sticker says 12MPG city and 16 HWY...The truck gets 12MPG on it's best day on the highway going down hill. Going back to a Chevy or even a Ford..., Thanks Dodge, you've been great (NOT)
