Used 2006 Chevrolet HHR Consumer Reviews
Must be good
They sell fast, that should tell you that the public likes the HHR. I find it very comfortable and very quiet on the road. Moves out when you need to. Way above what I expected from a small car.
Not a winter car!
I purchased my HHR in the spring and loved driving it for about 8 months. Then winter came. The windows continuously freeze up. I have to scrape them to get them to roll down even though there is not obvious signs of freezing. The vehicle is in an unheated garage. I have also found the the struts are terrible. Every time I hit a bump, they squeak. With frost heaves in Maine, I squeak all the time.
Chevy hits a home run
This is the best new car I have ever owned, it is basically flawless The only flaw being the cupholder location. Other than that it is a sensible family car with room for five and their luggage also. This is as if they brought back the station wagon in a new and compact package. Has plenty of power and have been gitting 28 MPG around town with automatic transmission.
Wind / Road Noise
My car gets 20 mpg in town driving and 30 mpg highway. I have had it 6 months. It accelerates quickly enough to get on freeways safely. The heated seats need to be re-designed so more of the seating surface gets warm. The only complaint I have is about wind & road noise, especially at highway speeds, the noise sounds like a window is not completely shut, especially on passenger side, between the front & rear door. This appears to be the result of a design flaw. There is only one rubber seal around the front doors, & if there were two, like on the rear doors, I think the problem would not exist.
Great car to drive
Nice quiet ride. Bought the LT with sunroof, and auto transmission. Love the auto start, and would not buy without sunroof. The light in from sunroof makes it appear larger inside. Took on trip to Norfolk, VA and at legs of trip got 33 mpg in gas mileage. Enough room for me being 5'11". If you buy one, get the one with sunroof. The 2.2l has enough power for whatever you want and the automatic gets you the auto start and door locks.
