Used 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV Consumer Reviews
I want to love the car
Even when they announced the battery recall I was happy with my bolt and looking forward to the new battery. Well I finally received the battery 2 weeks ago and now I'm having the same problem that I have read from a few others. My car no longer charges. I have tried on all 3 levels of charge. When I called gm they said they have recently heard about this problem. Well I'm 7 hours drive from home and no vehicle. The 2 gm dealerships withing my driving range dont service Eva. Gm customer support says hes not sure what they can do. My first and only gm product I will ever buy. Now I will have to find a vehicle as I am missing my 2nd day if work. Updating my review. Living in canada we are in kilometers. I just passed 243,000 km and I havent had any serious issues since they figured out why my car wouldn't charge. It was completely gm's fault for not updating the software. I know i have to replace the struts as they have so many km on them and my usb doesn't work. But aside from that the car has been amazing. I am driving in sub zero weather constantly and yes my range goes down. But considering I have save over 35,000.00 in gad I will live with it.

Rear Axle noise
Rear Axle noise at 39,000 miles (under powertrain warranty) First dealer refused to fix, and provide a false statement that they fixed. But I still hear the noise, so I brought the car to another dealer, and pay them to inspect my car($150). Guess what? They found out that rear axle or torsion beam is making the noise, and they quote me $2,834 for fixing it. I PM back to GM, and ask about this issue. GM get back to that dealer, and ask them to fix my car. Now, I'm waiting for my car to get fixed. Cite : https://insideevs.com/news/463735/chevy-bolt-ev-clunking-issue-torsion-beam/

Little EV with a big heart
The big battery and low price makes this a promising value. The small size appeals to me. I can carry four adults in reasonable comfort though or a bike with the front wheel removed. The seats are now comfortable and with additional safety features it's a very capable car. I'm still not a fan of the suspension. Even with recent improvements it's not terribly forgiving on rough roads. Maybe the short wheelbase has something to do with that but the basic rear suspension doesn't help. On smooth roads it's fine and stable though. The torque steer has been almost eliminated thank goodness as the older version was downright frightening at times. The car is more basic than some newer EVs but I'm OK with that. One problem I had was I found out my phone isn't compatible with the android auto app on the car. I can make calls and receive messages but the nav system will not work. My old phone will work on the new Bolt and my new phone worked on the old Bolt so something definitely got fouled up. Check with the service department for comparability before buying.

Great little EV
I’ve owned this gem for 16 months, 25,400 miles. Zero problems. I drive a fair amount of highway driving, but plenty of city too, and average about 118 MPGe. Pros: fun to drive reliability Inexpensive to operate Rear view mirror camera 360 degree view camera HVAC works quickly Cons: flimsy carpet factory tires not that great Highway tire noise Overall a great car, I’d buy one again.

Love it, I'll never go back to ICE.
This is my second Bolt, previous one was a leased '18. No problems whatsoever. That being said, I wasn't impressed with GM's battery recall issue. First, I grounded my '18 due to initial battery recall but was promised by the dealer the '20's wouldn't be affected in January of '21. I DID get a great deal, however. By August of '21, it too was recalled. January of '22, I got the software update limiting it to 80% charge. Finally got battery replacement in December of '22, new battery warranty of 100k/8yr. Flawless both before and since. But now the Bolt is in its last year of production. But, hints of a gen 3 ultium platform in the future. I hope so, as I don't want a bigger model. I charge at home and have little use for the commercial charging infrastructure. I have a great dealer (Holiday Chevy in Fond du Lac, WI.) I've paid less than $60 in maintenance fees in 4.5+ years of ownership and pay about $0.015 per mile for "fuel". What's not to love???
