I recently traded my beloved old Cadillac DTS for a 2017 Buick Lacrosse Essence, based largely on online reviews. I am impressed by the comfort, power and silence, but totally unimpressed by the almost complete lack of modern safety technology. How can a manufacturer sell a car with proximity sensors only at the rear? I realize that without exception the reviews were for top of the line trim only, but surely some safety trim could have been left in the lower trim models. I have a glass roof that I do not need, a display that reads sport or touring with the only difference being the display of a circular speedometer. My wife drives a 2007 Dodge Caliber which has just about as much safety technology. I think I've bought a quiet, comfortable video game on wheels.
