For that amount of $14k you should be able to get a 2007-2008 Corolla and if certified a good warranty. Consumer reports gives in a very high rating but to over all compare these two cars is not fair. Miles per tank on a Rio 2008

I don't know if I am wrong or what but my Kia Rio 2008 is just giving from 210-220 miles per tank. I really think that it should be more at least 280 miles per tank. How much miles per tank are your Rio's giving.

so i have had my car for only 2 month took in today and they found the computer has completely blown up and needs replacing. The care has been stuck in 3rd gear now till I could get it in and running rough and loud with bad gas milage. this is crazy it only has 3000 miles on it. the dealership even said they have never heard of this happening before. ... it would be the Versa or a 2009 Fit. The current 2008 Fit isn't in that list because the current model, which was introduced in Asia around 2000 if I recollect correctly, suffers from being a little too small and twitchy on the highway. It's a true "B" car (size category = mini, not compact) and suffers from some of the B car shortcomings, like not dealing with the freeway well. ... Read More

Just bought a new 2008 Base Rio. Checked the milage this morning. 30mpg, mostly highway. mostly 70 mph The overdrive (5th gear in my standard transmission) is geared too low. I'm tach'ing 3500 rpm at 70 mph. Should be between 2500 rpm and 3000 rpm. I don't see how I will ever get 38 mpg out of this ride? On the other hand, the Rio has much more torque with the ... Freedom KIA, Westover WV Paid $9999 for a base model 2008 RIO with 2 free oil changes and a couple of Kia Tee shirts. Needed a work car and this more than exceeded my expectations. Dealership was great. Hope to deal with them again when my wife needs her next car/ van / SUV.

there are several factors that govern your city mileage.. First off, if you have an automatic transmission, it doesnt shift into the higher(od) gear until you reach 38miles per hour, keeping that in mind, if your always at 25-35 you never reach the optimum operating rpm range for fuel effeciency.(watch your rpms, thats the tachometer.) This is supposed to come out in 2008 or 2009 maybe? They're going through major road testing right now, I guess to get everything right. I think it showed at the Geneva Auto Show, but I haven't seen too much about it. It will be cheaper than Honda or Toyota, so that's a good thing, I guess.
