I have a 1992 Geo Metro LXI convertible with 130K miles on the odometer. I've owned it since 1999 and it still runs like a top & looks great. Unfortunately, due to a failed safety latch, I now need to replace the hood of the car. Can anyone tell me what years & models shared the same hood as my '92 LXI convertible? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Lou

Some times the spindle, sometimes the drum is wore out( as in the bearing floats around in the drum ) that is most likely it; or the mechanic is pounding them in with a hammer!. Or over tightening them. nothing else will do that other then no grease.

Some of these bearings do not come pre-lubricated; and must be packed with lubricant before installation. The other issue with Metro wheel bearings is that they are available from manufacturers in several different countries. My mechanic will only use the ones which are made in Japan; although he usually tries to save money; so when he only uses Japanese bearings; you can be sure he has good reasons to do so. ... Doug, Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to clarify some of the points you brought up here. It sounds like we may be miscommunicating about the coil wires used to test for spark. Of course the primary (12 volt) feed must be connected between the coil and the electronics in the distributor (which take the place of the good old points and condenser) in order for dwell current to charge and ... Last I heard, they frown on using this site for selling vehicles. But Metros are becoming rarer all the time. I bought my 1990 3 cylinder, 5 speed hatchback in 1992. And at that time, there were no Metros within 50 miles of San Jose. So I had to drive all the way to Hollister to get that car. And I've never regretted it. Just be sure to run a compression ... Hello, The Geo Metro 1.0 and 1.3 liter motors each take very different distributor caps. The 1.0 liter motor has 3 cylinders, and takes a distributor cap that has 3 spark plug wire sockets on it (for the wires which go to the 3 spark plugs on the 1.0 engine). I believe that is the cap which everybody has been showing you; because the 1.3 liter 4 cylinder motor did not ... Read More

The three-cyl Metro engine has very tiny exhaust valves, which wear out over the years. I have had a 1991 and now drive a 1992 model, and on both I have rebuilt the engine. Having the valves replaced and the cylingers honed will make it a top-notch gas saver and stop that oil use. :D

I very much doubt it - so far as I know, the Corolla is a 4 cylinder engine; in 1992, the Metro had a 3 cylinder 1000cc engine. It may have changed by 1995, but, so far as I know, the Metro was always built by Suzuki (another Japanese firm). Stan
