Re: vibration at highway speeds in 2003 DeVille [rkmetz]
Written by: acweck on Aug 10, 2007 10:08:02 AM
Best of luck to you, rkmetz! I think I've pretty much resigned myself to getting rid of my DeVille. I'm just trying to decide whether to sell it myself or call my salesman and tell him to get me another car... something other than a Cadillac. The dealership where I bought mine also has an import division that sells Mercedes and Volvos, so those might be an option. Again, good luck ... Read More

hello mr ackweck, this is so strange, the tire company put two brand brand new tires (michelin energy mxv4) on my car today and as i was driving back home on a completely smooth highway i noticed the vibration coming and going! i am going to contact the local dealer and let him know i still have the problem.soon i will take the car to the next dealer and give them ... Hello rkmetz, No, unfortunately, I have never gotten rid of the vibration in my 2003 DeVille. It's a little better (and I emphasize "a little"), as it now kind-of comes and goes. For example, last Saturday - August 4th - I drove to the dealership to see my salesman about driving another DeVille to see if it did the same thing. On the way there, there was virtually no vibration at ... Read More

Well, I took my car to my local Cadillac dealer on July 9th. I finally got it back on the 20th. They looked at the wheels and tires, swapped wheel/tire combos from other DeVilles on the lot, checked out "anything else that might make it vibrate" and finally ended up putting new lower control arms in the front end. The service manager said that there was a TSB on this; he ... Read More

Thank you, powerflt, for your advice! The technician who noted the pulsation in my brakes did say that it happened when they were warm. Still, as far as I can tell, it's barely there, if at all, so I would say at this point my main concern is getting the cruising-speed vibration fixed. It's interesting you should mention road-force balancing because that was what my Cadillac dealer did to my car ... Read More

I can understand your sensitivity to squeaks, rattles and bumps I am the same way. First, the only kind of tire balance that will work well with your car is a Road Force balance. Its a bit more pricey but gets a lot of vibrations out of the wheel. There have been problems with the OEM brakes having a slight pulse when the brakes are warm, there was a TSB about ... Read More

vibration at highway speeds in 2003 DeVille
Written by: acweck on Jul 3, 2007 8:48:05 PM
Greetings all. I am the owner of a 2003 Cadillac DeVille, which I purchased on March 1st, 2007. The car was a lease return which only had approximately 13,000 miles on it at the time I bought it. It now has roughly 17,000 miles and ever since I bought it, it has exhibited a vibration at highway speeds which begins at about 65-68 m.p.h. and continues on from there. Unfortunately, I ... Deville Window Reglators
Written by: driver62 on Jan 18, 2007 5:16:14 PM
I have a 2001 Deville. I have had five window regulators to break. I believe this is a defect in workmanship. General Motors has replaced four but refused to do anything else. I have asked them since 2003 to check this part because I believe a defect is in the regulator. The last regulator I purchased and installed myself, I found that there is a plastic part that is causing the ... Read More

Yes you are correct the performance and build quality in a Cadillac will be better. With a budget of $ 22,000 you can probably find a 2003-04 with reasonably low miles and in good condition. I have considered a Grand Marque only in that I will only use for local driving, won't put many miles on it and the incredibly low price for a 2005 large sedan with a v8 engine ... Read More

I appreciate your comments. It is really tough to get rid of my SLE with less than 100 miles on it but my wife likes it and since she is a realtor and spends $50 everytime she fills up her Avalanche she plans on driving it. I'll wait till fall and order a new 2006 Malibu Maxx and get rid of the 2001 Malibu. The Maxx rides like a Rolls Royce ... Read More

I bought a 2006 Camry Solara SLE Convertible the other day and am not at all impressed with the ride. The car bounces quite a bit over city streets and yet the car writers praised the "smooth ride". My 2001 Malibu rides like a Cadillac compared to the Solara. I was interested in your opinion of the ride of your Avalon compared to the Deville. I have a 2003 Deville with ... Read More

I used to drive Buicks and after the local Buick dealer (and zone office) refused to fix the creaking noise from one of the struts on a 2000 LeSabre (the car had 10k miles) -which I later learned was a faulty strut bearing -I sold the Buick and eventually bought a Cadillac. The local Chevrolet-Cadillac dealer says that Cadillac is very concerned with owner complaints and as long as the car ... Read More

Try and get one under 4 years old and 50k mileage so you will get a break on an extended warranty. I wouldn't dream of having any car without a 100,000 miles 0 deductible 6 year warranty especially a Cadillac. When the warranty is gone so is the car. The 2001 model had leather standard and the 2002 had the most standard equipment including an electrochromatic (self dimming) outside side mirror ... Read More

A few years ago there seemed to be a lot of postings on this list so what has changed? I rode around the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex in a buddy's 2003 CTS - Cadillac's "best seller". I have a 2001 Malibu which rides better, has a bigger trunk opening, has nicer door panels, has a much better stereo (he doesn't have the Bose), and has a better back seat. I also have ... Read More

Owner's Manual Leather Case

When I bought my 2003 Deville program car it only came with the owner's manual. The dealer gave me a leather folder that it goes in and the pan, pad, etc. The folder I have says "Cadillac" on the front with the logo and the pen says "Cadillac" on it. I have since discovered that the actual 2003 case simply has the color logo on the front and the pen does ... Read More

Quality Woes

I'm a loyal GM owner, although I've always fretted about the build and material quality of their products compared with the Japanese or Germans. I sat in a 2003 Deville DHS at the auto show this weekend, and was appalled. The rear vanity visors were falling out of the headliner, and when I pressed them back in place, they barely stayed put with flimsy clips. Same for the overhead console up ... Read More

little changes

Does anyone remember when Cadillacs had those little "extra" touches that really separated them from the other GM products? Think back to say, 1983 or 1984. If you looked inside a Sedan DeVille as opposed to say, an Electra or Ninety Eight, you noticed certain things. For instance: 1. Cadillac (and all GM divisions) actually had their own shift and steering wheel designs 2. Ashtrays (all with lighters) made of real ... Read More
