I’m a disabled Vietnam veteran who has purchased cars from both Michael’s Toyota and Subaru. When I asked them (and, in a separate letter, Bruce Broadus, the owner) to assist me in obtaining the partial warranty refund I was owed under Washington State law he and they refused to do so. In my experience, when the man at the top is unethical, that same irresponsibility infects the organization as a whole. Toyota and Subaru are both excellent cars, and there are many ethical and responsible dealerships that sell them throughout the Puget Sound area. Michael’s, however, is not one of them. Please make your purchase elsewhere.

Dealer Review:

I tried to find out information about a vehicle before purchasing it. Communication from Shift was terrible. The associate I was in contact with was unresponsive. I later get a hold of someone else and the price had gone up. I explained that I was trying to purchase the vehicle but poor communication stopped it and I didn't want to pay $1k more out the door because of poor communication from Shift. The associate understood but needed her manager to adjust the price back. I checked throughout the day and the manager never responded to her. I would check back every couple of days and no response. The next weekend I used the chat feature on Edmunds to talk to another Shift employee about the issue. They took my information and said they would have someone contact me, that contact never came. I called again and got a Manager on the phone. I explained to him that the poor communication at Shift shouldn't cost me more money. He just kept quoting their policies. He spoke as if he was the manager that was supposed to get back to the second associate I contacted. I pointed out that he too didn't communicate with his associate about my case. I asked him how are customer's supposed to confidently purchase a car from an online company if the employees of that company are not communicating well with customers or each other. I pointed out that the car had been on Edmunds.com almost 2 months and this had probably happened to other customers or else it would have been sold.. He had no answer for me and ultimately said they would not honor the price I originally tried to purchase the car for. If they can't handle simple communication, then I may have dodged a bullet by not purchasing from them. If you are reading this you may want to consider avoiding issues by avoiding Shift.
