It's a Tesla, not a Cadillac

It's amazing to read so many reviews from "unhappy" owners complaining about the ride, build & materials of the Model Y. Is $50k an expensive car? Sure. Is $50k really luxury category? Eh, maybe just on the low side of your standard ICE vehicle. Teslas are first and foremost pieces of technology with wheels. They are the beginning of the future, and being that beginning means that … something like the Y *might* be a bit overpriced... MIGHT.
We've had our Y for a bit, now, and have loved every moment with it. We waited several months before ordering to avoid many of the KNOWN Tesla delivery issues at the beginning of every new model. Ours arrived with no issues other than a tiny paint imperfection that Tesla found and I may have never noticed. They will pay to have it fixed.
The ride is firm, but you only really notice that on roads with pot holes or serious bumps, and what you feel is really nothing out of the ordinary. The Y is not a pillow-like ride that you get from a Cadillac, and that's just fine. You want that then pay more for the S or X and the air suspension. The benefit, as we see it, to feeling the road is that on most streets you FEEL the road. You feel the Y stick to it as you go 0-60 in < 5 seconds. You feel the road as you turn. You feel connected, like a performance machine makes you feel.
The interior is nice and well thought out. The only think I wish it had is a sunglasses compartment, but where you'd normally put that is where the AMAZING glass roof starts. You quickly think, "Yeah, I can do without the holder." Controlling EVERYTHING through the touchscreen took some getting used to, but after a week it's all good. The seats are extremely comfortable, as well.
One of the most amazing parts about the Y is the backseat. It is VERY roomy. I'm 6'2", my wife 5'10", and our teenaged boys are both in that 6' range. All 4 of us can sit in any of the seats with more than enough room and comfort. Friends have commented about how much room there is vs what you expect looking from the outside. Now, this isn't a 7 person hauler. It's built for 5 at the most. If you have 3 kids and will be consistently riding at that max, I'd consider something else, personally.
To sum it up, if you are in the market for something like a Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 and are looking to the future or wanting to reduce your carbon footprint the Model Y is an excellent choice.
