2011 Dodge Avenger
This car was a purchase for my son, who just turned 16. It is the Heat addition, which as far as I can tell, is the performance version. It has 79,000 miles, but is in great shape. It is an attractive car, think mini Dodge Charger on the outside. The interior is nice looking, with decent materials and fit and finish. It's not a Bentley, but it's very nice for its cost and class. It … has many nice features, including a moonroof and bluetooth radio, and all of the extras work well and are intuitive. The car is rated at 19 city mpg and 29 highway. It has the V6, which is strong and fun (maybe too much so for a 16-year-old, but I digress). Most importantly for a new driver, it has a lot of safety features, such as front wheel drive, airbags everywhere, traction control, and, of course, antilock brakes. It was also an IIHS top safety pick back in 2011, so if anything can make me feel at ease with my soon-to-be licensed son driving around, this car is it.
