I bought my tercel a year and a half ago and have had no problems with it other than the suspension since I use it for pizza delivery and go in and out of driveways all day. I have put 35000 miles on the car, nearly all stop and go and the car runs fine. I fully expect this car to make it to 250k miles. The car performs well for having such a small engine, and the automatic transmission is very smooth. I have made deliveries in this car when there was several inches of snow on the roads (on several occasions) and not gotten stuck.

This was the perfect car for me to commute back and forth to the University about 30 miles from my house in. Great gas mileage. Seated 5 comfortably--whether I carried siblings or friends. Large trunk space.

The pick up in slow when coming from a stop position to start, but once you get in gear, it moves. It shifts smoothly and it is not necessary to come to a complete stop to do so. I have found however, that as you reduce your speed from around 55 or higher, there seems to be some shimming or slight bumping motion in the front of the car.
