I love my 2012 Prius Plug-in although it now only charges up to 11.3 miles when plugged in. Otherwise it’s been very low maintenance. It has great acceleration and I get excellent mileage. The one drawback is the catalytic converter was stolen and now I’m paranoid it could happen again.

Miracle Car

2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced 4dr Hatchback (1.8L 4cyl gas/electric plug-in hybrid CVT)

I have had many cars over the years and my 2012 Prius Plug-In Advanced stands out for its incredible reliability. It is 13 years old now with roughly 155,000 miles and so far I have not had a single repair that wasn't routine maintenance. Not a single thing has broken or given me problems. I had my mechanic do a 100,000 mile service on it when that time came and he said everything still looked perfect - as in he didn't need to do the service - but he did it anyhow because I asked him to. When is the last time you heard your mechanic say that? I have the technology package so it has radar cruise control (which works amazingly well), a windshield display (which is silly but works as it is supposed to), and a Lexus infotainment system which was top of the line at the time. The back seats fold down for incredible cargo space. With the plug-in system I can do my daily errands using little or no gas. The only downsides of the car are tied to its strength of efficiency: the car was built to be light. As such it doesn't have a ton of sound insulation and such. But the Toyota build is robust and even at 10 years old had fewer internal squeaks compared to my then-new 2022 Tesla. 3 years in, my Tesla has needed repairs (fortunately covered under warranty). The Prius is a car for commuting and efficiency, not a sports car, of course. In any case, I plan to drive her until she'll drive no more. My Prius has saved me so much money over the years in gas, insurance, in repairs, in registration, it's a godsend. It was my first Toyota (past cars: Audi, Ford, Honda x 2, Volvo) and Toyota has won me as a customer for life. When the time comes, I'm looking forward to getting the latest the newest Prius (they finally look sexy-ish) or a Lexus EV. I'm addicted to cars that are reliable!

this car is a workhorse. No issues for 140000 miles. I would have not sold the car if my company didn't have a company car.

Love My Plug In Prius

I've had my Plug In Prius since April '12. I now have about 6000 miles and average 123 mpg in combined driving (including a trip to Canada of 1000 miles when I could not plug in at all). My commute to work is ideal - 11 miles and I can plug in at work, so on many days I use little or no gas.

Steering wheel heavy, feel tired every time driving around 2-3 hours. Dealer Melody Toyota lied, didn't know anything even answer a question about this car. Battery Plug in is such, spend electric more than gas.
