Great car, highly recommend this vehicle.
I have 72k miles on my car and it has not given me any problems so far. Absolutely love this car and will be keeping it for awhile. Lacks on power on highway when passing but I usually put the car in 3rd gear and haul tail. I travel alot and have noticed my car gets around 40-45 mpg highway, thats when i add fuel cleaner and gas treatment. I also put a k&n air filter in it as well and it has improved on performance and gas mileage. I had a 1999 camry and totaled it, had around 145k miles on it and it was also a good vehicle as well. Will definately buy a new corolla when i want a new car.
Amazing little car! Best commuter car
I love this car. It's been great, dependable, reliable all its days. **UPDATE: If I still had my little 2009, I'd say the same thing. I loved that car so much that when a texting driver rear ended it and totaled it out last year, I cried for days. I cried even more when we replaced it with a 2012 Toyota Corolla that we later realized had not been taken care of properly and is a total piece of junk. All that to say, a Toyota Corolla is an excellent, dependable car--if you take care of it. If I had the money, I'd buy another one new so I knew the kind of care it had received. I would trust it. Now, it is not a family car--the back seat is tiny and does not accommodate rear facing car seats very well without the person in the front seat being very uncomfortable (and my current car seat is so ginormous it wouldn't even fit), but for 1-2 adults, even with preschoolers through middle school kids, this car would be fine. Miss the gas mileage it had!

I must have got the lemon...
We got a 2009 Corolla S with about 95,000 miles on it for about $12k 5 years ago. During this time we have put about 60k miles on it and had to do the following repairs: Alternator (103,000), front wheel bearing (142,000), head gasket (149,000), transmission (155,000). For the miles per $, this is the worst and most expensive car we have ever had. And yes, we have regularly changed the fluids and kept up on the routine maintenance.

Highly dissapointed- will never buy Toyota again
2 months after warranty was over (oh yeah!), check engine light went on (P2727) with less than 50k miles. Ended up changing both the torque converter and solenoids as well as the sensor to get rid of the light... 10 miles later, the light went off again... They're telling me now that the computer has issues which has to be changed. I don't know whom to trust and what to do next. Will trade in my car for another car which won't be a Toyota for sure.... Yep, Toyota's legendary reliability is only good until you're covered under warranty... My advice to you if you decide buy a Toyota, add an extended warranty...
Love my Toyota!!
2009 Toyota corolla LE, I bought in 2012 with only $23k miles on it for $11K. I have done regular maintenance, never miss oil changes, taken for all recalls, changed the brakes once in 4 years, and tires once, that's about it. I guess the quality of the tires will give you better traction in snow, but I hate driving it in the snow because there's a lot of hill in the city I live in. I now have 65k miles on it and the car is GREAT! About $25 to fill tank and lasts me 2 weeks (I live very close to work) but a full tank almost gets me from Massachusetts to NY and back, thats a 3 1/2 hour one way. I just passed it on to my daughter as her first car and she loves it too! She learned how to drive in it and is comfortable. The visibility is OK. I also don't drive like a manic or treat my car like its a race car or like I don't care about it. Everything in it, buttons, heat/AC , radio, windows, still work fine. I am about to get it detailed because the paint is starting to seem dull so if you can, try to have it buffed and wax once a year but as with any car its all about how you take care of it. I love our car!!
