Great car
This has been a great car. The fuel economy has averaged between 32 and 38 depending on the driving. Storage space is surprisingly good especially when I fold down the back seat. The display in the middle of the console opens up a lot of visual field but takes a bit of getting used to. The ride is rough for long trips but when you consider what you are paying for gas vs what others are paying, the ride is not so bad. I am really surprised that they stopped making this car.
Been trying to break it for 6 years.
*first, car does have cruise control as an option* Bought car from father-in-law when I got back from my deployment. Put a hitch on it. Towed my 125 ktm around no problems for years. Drove through Georgia mud trails out to mwa shooting ranges. Laughed at trucks that got stuck and somehow I didn't. Drove with two wheels that had most of their bearings destroyed (sounded like I was riding in a c130). Hoped a wheel would fall off so I could wreck and get a week off work (military sucks, don't join); never happened. Fixed them after a year for pretty cheap. Changed the oil 3-5k miles late every time. Oils always clean and clear. Cruise control works pretty well. There is a variable 2-4mph fluctuation going through up/down the smokey mountains. I can't bring myself to buy a new car when this beater is still perfectly fine despite all my attempts to kill it..it's ridiculously reliable. Down to the actual negatives : - throttle lag will pss any car enthusiast off. -swapping out the heavy wheels with lighter könig's was actually a bad idea..my bearings were taking the brunt of the force rather than the tires. So they went bad earlier than they should have. But that was a cheap repair for the significant ride improvement. -aerodynamics is subpar at high speeds meaning you will need to drive with two hands at 80 mph+ if there is significant crosswinds. -crash test ratings are subpar. Just don't get t-boned. I would never buy this car again. But honestly I'm glad I've been stuck with it.

Love It
This car is incredible. I was working on a tight budget. After test driving three cars, the salesperson showed me this car. The long list of standard items was impressive. After taking it out for the test drive I found it to be very responsive and fun driving and decided to buy it. I bought a Toyota Camry 6 months back. I wish I had test driven this car before I had brought my Camry. I think this car is a true value down to every penny.
2005 Scion xA
My Scion xA is wonderful. Not only is it different and awesome to drive but the gas mileage is great. This car is perfect because it fits my personality. It is the only car I have seen that you can choose so many different accessories. I picked out everything down to the wheels and it's great. I couldn't be happier with my Scion!
Best Car I Ever Bought
Ive owned this car a little over 3 years now and Im approaching 30K miles. It is the best car Ive ever owned. No trips to the dealer except for scheduled maintenance. I live in Ventura and its perfect for parking in tight spots and doing the 7-mile commute to work down the 101. Stereo is great! I average 33 MPG; Lowest MPG was 30 and highest (round trip: vacation to Bakersfield) was 39.47. Im 6 ft. and I can sit behind myself. MPGs would be even better if there was a 6th overdrive gear. Friends are impressed and sad; too bad they stopped making these. The xD is not really a replacement. If I had to replace this car today Id give the Honda Fit a serious once-over.
