Great car
This is one of those cars that is is more then the sum of its parts. Nothing else looks like it, unlike the newer generic looking Saabs. It's fun to drive, still solid after 123000 miles, fold down that back seat and you have a wagon. 25 mpg. So far the only major repair has been the exhaust. Too bad they stopped making this body style.
saab reality
live saab or die. this is my 7th one. never had a major problem. realiabiltiy is unsurpassed. feel safe at all times even in a convertible. smooth ride, quiet and comfortable. will probably never own another type of car. always ahead of the competition in every dept.just waiting for the s.u.v.

If you're looking for fun
I purchased this car in August 2007. This car is very dependable and comfortable. It rides extremely well with the top up or down. It is hard to tell at times how fast I'm going. Would recommend this car for anyone looking for a convertible sports car.
Splendid Saab!
I really enjoy the 900 S. The only drawbacks: parts availability and cost.

Precious
I am the third owner of this SAAB 900S 3 door 2.3L.It lived the first 20 years of its life in the mild climate of Victoria B.C and was mint upon arrival.A local doctor had bought it in Victoria and keep very good care ( i have all the service records) . I will make this short by saying the next two owners, each only in possession for a short time, did their best to run this car into ground. Young guys both, no oil was changed , little to no maintenance at all, the interior treated very poorly and the immaculate exterior (citrine beige met.) now has these bizarre dents all over as if parked next to a softball field for 5 years. (no, not hail ). Despite their efforts, this car refused to lay down and die. It had to pretend to be sick to change ownership; a dirty fuel injector had it running rough. I fixed that in an hour, and with now new breaks all around, new motor mounts, new flowmaster exhaust ( it has a little growl now) , and an oil fill dipstick the car is feels like new. 100K she is solid and handles so well, engine got plenty of torque and jam. all cylinders equal and high compression. A few parts here and there ( sourcing them is fun and I find no shortage at all) and an expensive interior detail $800 this car is grateful. |Hats of to engineers at Saab for making a truly unique high quality fun to drive car., Cost $42000 in 1997. You might pay 4200 now. What a steal.

The Older It Gets...
I would never buy another new saab again (or for that matter any new car) always buy used. I also have an infiniti which I bought used for 13000 and have put 125000 miles on it. If I calculate the price per mail for both cars its easy to tell where the bargain is. Price + Repairs:S=33000 I=16000 Miles Driven: S=140000 I=120000 Price per mile: S=.23 I = .13 If you really like saabs..buy it used..You'll get more bang for the buck! Morale of story: Buy Used High Quality vehicles. My next car will be a 2000 Lexus GS300.
Repairs
I have owned this car for two years and it has 66,000 miles on it. The repair costs have averaged $2,000 per year. A little too much compared to the pleasure it provides.
SAAB: APPROPRIATELY NAMED
SAAB IS THE MOST APPROPRIATLY NAMED CAR ON EARTH!!! I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEDN THIS CAR TO ANY ONE. I HAVE SPENT MORE TIME IN RENTALS THAN IN MY OWN. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP LACKS PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND ARE RUDE AND BUTTHEADS. MAJOR ENGINE WORK HAS BEEN DONE (OIL LEAK), CLUTCH CABLE REPLACED TWO TIMES IN LESS THAN 8 MONTHS, I BURN 93 OCTANE AND CAR PINGS DOWN THE ROAD. HANDLING AND STYLING ARE AMAZING BUT A SOUR TASTE HAS BEEN LEFT IN MY MOUTH DUE TO REPAIRS AND MAINTAINCE COSTS. NOT A CAR I WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN, I AM NO FOOL AND HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON.
Sweet Dream
My Saab 900 S has made driving an "experience" instead of a chore. This car handles excellent. Built well and easy to work on. Convenient features inside the "cockpit." GREAT overall.
