Used 1997 Saab 900 Consumer Reviews
If you're looking for fun
I purchased this car in August 2007. This car is very dependable and comfortable. It rides extremely well with the top up or down. It is hard to tell at times how fast I'm going. Would recommend this car for anyone looking for a convertible sports car.
Precious
I am the third owner of this SAAB 900S 3 door 2.3L.It lived the first 20 years of its life in the mild climate of Victoria B.C and was mint upon arrival.A local doctor had bought it in Victoria and keep very good care ( i have all the service records) . I will make this short by saying the next two owners, each only in possession for a short time, did their best to run this car into ground. Young guys both, no oil was changed , little to no maintenance at all, the interior treated very poorly and the immaculate exterior (citrine beige met.) now has these bizarre dents all over as if parked next to a softball field for 5 years. (no, not hail ). Despite their efforts, this car refused to lay down and die. It had to pretend to be sick to change ownership; a dirty fuel injector had it running rough. I fixed that in an hour, and with now new breaks all around, new motor mounts, new flowmaster exhaust ( it has a little growl now) , and an oil fill dipstick the car is feels like new. 100K she is solid and handles so well, engine got plenty of torque and jam. all cylinders equal and high compression. A few parts here and there ( sourcing them is fun and I find no shortage at all) and an expensive interior detail $800 this car is grateful. |Hats of to engineers at Saab for making a truly unique high quality fun to drive car., Cost $42000 in 1997. You might pay 4200 now. What a steal.

Fun To Drive!!
Saab convertible is very slick and fun to drive. In the summer this car turns a lot of heads when the top is down.
will never buy one again
The engine went out on the car when it hit 10000 miles and Saab thinks that is ok. Many other problems, have replaced radio, clutch, brakes, seats, tires, etc. We will never buy a SAAB again- too many problems with a brand new car. SAAB customer service is improving but not anywhere near what it needs to be. The dealerships service departments are comitting fraud and SAAB USA doesn't do anything about it.
quirky but no fun to fix
This hatch is great and with the rear seats folded down, The storage space is cavernous. The seats are comfortable and the driving position is great. The performance is somewhat lackluster. The turbo lag is pronounced during acceleration. The manual shifter is placed too low and shifting lacks crisp feel. The ride can be jarring especially with the 16 inch rim and performance rubber. Road and engine noise is pronounced at any speed. The handling and breaking are above average. No major electrical issues, but too many mechanical to mention. Be prepared to get to know your dealer service manager really well.
