Electrical problem after problem after problem

I bought a single cab 2020 ram because I liked my 2018 ram so much, but they are NOT the same. I started have electric problems after 30 days( the fuel gauge stopped working). Took it it for repairs and they found nothing wrong with it, they had it for 3 days. 2 days later the problem came back this time they fixed in 9 days. Next the shifter started acting up along with the radio. 19 days later they had it fixed. Now the back up sensor will not stop beeping when you have it turned off with a trailer on. So it has to go back again. I called the Ram Care Center to try and work out a Swap for this truck because it's a lemon and they told me they would keep fixing it as long as it's under warranty but now do anything else. She suggested I buy a longer warranty. I've owned the truck sent 8/14/20 and it's been in there shop for 30 days so far and has to go back. I will not being buying a Ram ever again if this is how they stand behind there trucks.

Owned car 2 weeks and only gotten to drive 1.5 day

Currently only driven my brand new 2500 Tradesman Diesel for a day and a half, when it would not go into reverse then check engine light came on. Once I was finally able to find a dealer that wouldn't make me wait a week to bring it in, I found out it wasnt just the solenoid pack that was bad. Metal shards all through the transmission. Been waiting a week to get Ram to authorize a new transmission and then at least another week to actually get it shipped. Will be close to an entire month before I get to drive it again. Really concerned with what else I am going to have to deal with now.

Expensive truck cheap customer service

I bought a brand new 2020 Ram with the 6.7 diesel. The truck ran great for the first 9,000 miles. Then I noticed a noise in the drivetrain when going from drive to coast. I took the truck to the dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong. By the time the truck had 15,000 miles on it there was a noise all the time. I went back to the dealership and this time they agreed there was a problem. First they replaced the transfer case, that didn’t fix it. Next they re-flashed the computer, that didn’t fix it. Now they have the transmission out of the truck. The truck has been down for 40 days so far and they have no idea when it will be fixed. I contacted Ram customer care, complete waste of my time. Ram customer care is telling me 6-8 weeks before they will do anything about it. So much for customer service. Currently 4 of the 5 vehicles sitting in my driveway are Chrysler products. This is the last Chrysler product I will ever buy. The quality is absolutely terrible and the customer service from Ram is even worse.

Everything I was looking for, plus a little

I needed a work truck, plain and simple. But also something I could use as a daily driver with some comfort and room for a family of four. The 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman really checked all of my boxes. The ability to add a few creature comforts in the cab of an entry-level trim was a great addition. Besides the standard cruise control and power locks and windows, I was able to up the entertainment center screen, which included added Android Auto! Also upgraded was cloth seats, rubber mats, heated mirrors and rear window, and a sliding rear window. Outside, the truck I purchase also had a nice chrome upgrade that made the steel wheels look a little nicer. Overall, it felt like a luxury truck compared to the F250 XL I drove, and was about $4k less expensive. Don't think I'm a Ram Loyalist, as this is my first one. I've owned all the major brands (and even a Honda Ridgeline) but in 2021, Ram easily had the truck that best met my needs with the right price.

Tows great less comfortable than a 1500

I had a 2021 1500 built to serve and 2015 Outdoorsman both with the 5.7. They were extremely nice and in particular, the 1500 is amazing from a comfort standpoint both driving and interior...but with the new trailer (6700 lbs total/800 lbs tongue weight), although adequate for towing and within specs, you were never able to fully relax in the relationship between the truck and the trailer. So, I got a 2500 6.4 Hemi and my towing issues were solved. Great power, the truck always feels planted and in control over the trailer... I am much less stressed (you know that low level always aware kind) after a day's drive... So, from a pure comfort standpoint speaking to the 2019 later models, they are quite a bit better than the 2500. The new 1500's have the bigger rear seat area (crew cab) and the dogs like that. In terms of fit and finish and interior amenities, they are equal but the ride of a 2500 is definitely a TRUCK like ride, stiffer, bouncier and the size of the 2500 crosses a line, for me, for daily driver. A 1500 rides like an upscale SUV. The 2500 rides like an extremely well put together TRUCK. Now, I don't drive mine as a daily driver and have a Jeep Renegade for that at double the mileage at least... so, the trucks is for transfer station duties and light off roading mostly under 10K a year miles. If you want comfort and a daily driver and don't tow daily or even weekly, go with a 1500 every day. If you tow at 6K or more and 800 to a thousand lbs tongue weight or virtually ANY fifth wheel go 2500. IF you tow daily or weekly at 6K up, go 2500/3500 diesel. In addition, the extra length and dimensions make parking a new experience over the 1500. A line is crossed. I'd also get the parking sensors and towing mirrors at least for that blind spot on a 1500 or 2500/3500. Blind spot monitoring would be my preferred option. Update: About a year later and 10K miles over half towing, I love the 2500. For MY needs, the Hemi was the way to go, plenty of power for what I tow. It would be nice to see the next gen 2500/3500 be improved along the lines of the 1500 fifth gen, but it is still a relatively luxurious ride. I love the feeling of being "planted" on the road with the truck always in control vs the trailer allowing for a more relaxed towing experience. Mileage towing is in the same range as the 1500 surprisingly and at a bit of a higher speed all in all. I did do after market bumpers front with a winch fab fours matrix and I highly recommend either getting the OEM retractable side steps or gulping and getting the aftermarket versions like I did. AND, one year later, my very same truck MSRP is right at 10K more expensive than mine making my so so deal a great deal a year later in comparison along with the 3.24% interest rate vs the 8 and 9% rates of 2023. But now, the prices are breaking due to high cost and interest rates in mid 2023, so U2 might be able to get a decent deal again... 19K miles. We primarily use the 2500 for towing the trailer. It is a fantastic truck, but to be honest it is NOT the greatest daily driver so I got a Gladiator for that and a bit more of the off road capability. I get compliments on the Ram because I put the Fab Four and Rough Country after market bumpers on. This truck is a beast. Driving in town is OK but parking is a bear because it is so big and it sucks gas like a fish water. The 6.4 Hemi is a great engine and I am so glad I got it vs a diesel personally. I put KO2's on it and they improved the ride a bit over the OEM Transforces that are like Flintstone tires imho. This truck is likely my last big one as it meets my needs for towing including potentially anything bigger I might get. I have 3K in payload and 15K max tow capability. I'm around half that on any given trip. The comfort towing vs the 1500 is incomparable but I sure miss the size of the 1500 cab. Ram needs to do something about that basically having the same cab for what like 8 years now? So, great truck no issues, looks good performs even better. I changed my stars on comfort up to five stars. It is really a pleasure to drive towing a trailer. This ain't your grandpa's truck. Mileage towing overall is 9ish plus or minus a bit. I am still a bit surprised that it is NOT that much different than the 1500 perhaps a bit worse but not a great deal at all towing. The 1500 definitely has a few mpg advantage not towing...as the 2500 gets 12/13 non towing mpg mixed driving. It does not like stop and go driving in town from an MPG standpoint. It's a great truck. I got a great deal in retrospect and essentially the same truck now would be 10K more, 15K more in 2023 when prices maxed out. One thing I wish I had was the tow mirrors on the new ones. They are very nice. Update: June 2025. I got a gladiator as my daily driver so have a bed and the 2500 pretty much is dedicated to towing and big projects or getting appliances. We occasionally will take it on light offroading with wide roads, but that's about it. Three years in and 26K miles. I added a star but I must admit I hate the UConnect 5.0. I much prefer the old 4.0, but I'm also a curmudgeon. The new trailer is about 8600 and an 1175 tongue weight. But 3K payload and 15K max tow weight, and I swear it tows the heavier trailer even better, no sag, and tracking is superior but the torsion suspension on the trailer and the upgrade to an Equalizer from the Fastway E2 could be a part of that. Irrespective, We love traveling in the Ram, zero problems so far. Knock on wood. Love the Billet Silver. One correction to the above regarding 1500's. With a Hemi and 4.92 rear end, I'd easily go to 7500 lbs on Max weight and stay at 80% of your payload whatever it might be. As for the new Hurricane engine. Well, it says it can easily do what I'm towing maybe an issue with payload on some, so can't address that one, but they appear to tow nice.

Mechanical Problems

I originally purchased my 2021 Ram 2500 6.7 brand new from the dealership. It was great amazing power and towing capability is unmatched. At 24,000 miles the transmission broke. Dealer replaced at no cost due to warranty, but I was out of a vehicle for about 4 weeks waiting for Ram to fix this warranty issue. Several thousand miles after, the transmission began to shift terribly rough. Took forever for it to shift up and the downshifts were really rough. At about 60,000 miles the engine developed a ticking sound. At 75,000 miles the EGR went out. At 83,000 miles the cooler lines to the transmission popped loose all on their own. The dealer attempted to blame the cooler lines on a mechanic that worked on the exhaust, though they couldn’t tell me exactly how they were damaged in any way. I spoke with several diesel transmission shops, and they all said that this is a common defect in Rams. Cooler lines are quick connect fittings, and, with vibrations from the engine, break over time and simply pop out. Since these troubles, I have researched 5th generation rams and found they are fraught with numerous different mechanical issues.

We drove most trims yesterday including the Big Horn 3500 and 2500 Laramie. I may not be a truck guru but me and my husband have had a few. The Laramie 2500 short bed won hands down. All the bells and whistles, wow even heated and cooling seats. These seats have the comfort of a recliner. My husband was extremely impressed by a bunch of stuff I don't understand. He is a life long Dodge truck owner. Win win all round. Take this for a test drive. You will fall in love like we did.

So far this vehicle has met my expectations. I am satisfied with my new 21,2500 Tradesman it handles good plenty of power 6.4 Hemi. 8spd Trans, going to be used as a every day to and from vehicle, it will be used to pull a 26ft camper toy hauler and a flatbed trailer grossed for 14,000 on occasion short trips. Bought at Brandl Motors in Little Falls, MN overall great experience!!

2021 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, great truck but has two recalls that may cause fire. Per the local dodge dealership {Carson City Nv.} they only get one part per week....What??? When you are over number 100 on a waiting list for parts it seems rather stupid to buy a Ram.....

I purchased a 2021 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel. It runs great, has plenty of power for towing. It has had 2 recalls already, which to be honest is a pain in the ... Going to the dealership isn't my idea of fun. There are several issues I have with it. The mirrors create a lot of wind noise. The infotainment center is antiquated. I understand you can pay thousands more for upgrades but honestly the truck is so expensive it should be better. The wheels/hubcaps look cheap. Headlights are outdated. The plastic gas cap and Def cap couldn't get much cheaper. The positioning of the USB plugs is not ideal, they are down by the gas pedal.🤔 The truck makes a good farm truck but is lacking in a lot of modern technology that would make it a great truck.

Better have a good test drive , before you got one. Mine, brand new 2500 Cummins has coolant leaks, transfer case leaks, hard shifter.just out of the dealer i remember asking the guy why the shifter was hard and he said something like the truck was warming up. looks something happened to it in the assembly line or dealerships delivery, or they just didn't build it right, something, cause a brand new truck couldn't not have these many problems... So truck is in shop at dealer they are going to change a seal lol for a brand new unthinkable, and the coolant leaks they have to find and fixe so I will see how things go. It's just I love the brand I love the RAM

Replaced my 2014 Ram 1500 Eco-Diesel with a 2500 Big Horn 6.4L Cummins HEMI while on a long road trip pulling a 6,500lb travel trailer. My, oh my. The last 1,000 miles of my trip included long grades and mountain summits, yet towing and handling was effortless beyond my expectations. But not surprising. Fuel economy was well below what I experienced with the Eco-Diesel, as expected. Fit and finish are what you hope for in a new vehicle, and I haven't been disappointed. The ride on open roads in a heavy duty truck with stiffer suspension is comfortable, but not the quiet, smooth ride I had in my Eco-Diesel, I'll really appreciate this truck when I upgrade my trailer into a larger, heavier rig. My only issue is a minor one, but can anyone explain why FCA doesn't make rear wheel well liners standard equipment?

I’ve had my 2500 6.7 for a year and I have 10000 miles on it. Haven’t had any issues with it and it does everything I ask it to do. Only complaint I would have is it goes through DEF. Mileage is decent for this size of truck. Pulls my camper really well. The 6.7 sounds really good. I do worry about the reputation of the CP4 pump and the 68RFE transmission

I have owned several brand new Ford and Dodge trucks and just bought another one. This trucks sits very high and a few people have had issues getting in. It drives, handles and brakes well for a big truck. I have been getting 13.5mpg city and highway. Has a 6.5' bed, wish I had waited for an 8' bed but dealer lots don't have lots to choose from these days.. It tows very well.as I had a camper that checked in at about 4,000 . With 410hp you would think it would be quicker but it is OK. With the price of the truck tax and an extended ten year bumper to bumper added on it came to about $56 grand. After 2,000 miles I am happy with the truck so far. .. Now I have 14,000 miles on the truck. It has a few scratches from the hurricane and has had 2 recalls taken care of by the dealer. Stock tires suck even in wet grass even in 4 x 4. Truck is great and I would recommend it. Now the truck has 33k miles on it. I still love it. has aftermarket wheels and tires on it now. I also went with very aggressive aftermarket bumpers front and rear. I am looking for a large winch to add to the front bumper. I also have plans to put on the 3/4 inch factory power wagon fender flairs. I feel very safe driving it. i would buy the truck again.

I like my Ram Truck, this is the 3rd 2500 Crew W/ the Cummins diesel. This one seems to have a little less power, lower fuel mileage, by about 3 mpg, than my previous 2500 and uses twice as much DEF. Had a recall within a few weeks of purchase. The worst part of this purchase was the dealer. This review does not have the option to select the 6.7 I-6 Cummins Diesel which is the engine my truck is equipped with.

RAM 2500 has a lot of power. I opted for the Big Horn trim and added additional features like trailer guidance package and heated seats. The 12 inch UCONNECT screen makes the driving experience like riding in a futuristic vehicle. There are a lot of options to choose from. I recommend you decide if you want a truck that has greater towing capacity, payload or is outfitted like a premium SUV. The RAM 2500 can meet any of those desires. I opted for towing capacity, so I bought the Big Horn with the Cummins in-line 6 Diesel engine. Look forward to seeing what this truck can do in the Spring camping season! Update my RAM 2500 did not disappoint. No issues towing my 32 foot travel trailer through mountain passes. Great truck highly recommend.

This stroke is built extremely well. It runs like a new car. It is very comfortable. And has all the amenities of a new vehicle. I can see the Rams are built the last!

I own a 2500 Laramie 6.4L with 48900 miles and pulled a 9500 pound trailer for 2 years over 48 states. JUST AN AMAZING TRUCK. No issues whatsoever. I am also changing my fluid on a timely manner.

I absolutely love my truck, EXCEPT 2 MAJOR ISSUES!!!!!!!!! The front passenger will be in the chiropractors office after 5hr in front seat, and the paint chips large chunks when the slightest item or rock hits it. My paint looks 15 years old on tail and front end and it’s less the 2 years old. Both of these items are really crumby as I spent $78k on this bighorn and my wife has to ride in back seat due to severe discomfort (I rode in passenger seat to confirm and I lasted 45 min) and my paint on my travel trailer hauler looks like my 2005 300k Chevy work truck. Other then that I LOVE MY TRUCK. Would I buy it again… NO, the 2 problems are too big.
