Used 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Consumer Reviews
2000 Grand Prix
Apart from being a sexy looking car, the Grand Prix is a great performer and very fun to drive. As with any Pontiac, though, its interior is plasticky.
Almost 300,000 miles so far—LOVE my car!
I have the 2dr. GTP Coupe. I first had a 2001 that I bought new in California but sold in 2003 because I needed a SUV. But after moving to Texas it turns out I didn't need it any longer so in 2006 found this online with 60,000 miles. I flew from Texas to Cleveland, test drove it, bought it and drove it home. Then I added a SLP exhaust, smaller supercharger pulley, KYB adjustable shocks and a chip (and of course nicer 18" wheels). I asked my shop to put it on their dyno and it puts 200hp at the wheels (about all a FWD car can handle well). Yes, the transmissions in these are the weak link, I've replaced mine a couple of times (that 2000 model I first owned had it fail at 16,000 miles but the warranty covered it). My engine finally died (coolant in the oil) at 265,000 miles, so I replaced it. Both the interior and exterior of my car are in great shape and it currently is sitting at 295,000 miles and still runs strong, and yet I'm getting almost 30mpg on the highway. If it weren't for the transmission, I'd give this car 5 stars. I now do the extra step to have the transmission fluid and filter changed every year or so and that seems to be working to keep it happy.
