The 2017 Nissan Rogue makes a great first impression. It's attractive and less utilitarian in appearance than many rivals, with overall proportions that suggest a bigger, more premium vehicle. Its cabin is also appealing to look at, possessing a more carlike design and a generally upscale vibe. A quick peak into the back will reveal one of the most spacious passenger and cargo areas in its segment — it's big enough that it can even be fitted with a kid-friendly third row.
The Rogue checks off a lot of boxes — enough so that it was the 10th best-selling vehicle in the United States last year. Only one engine and transmission option is available, and advanced safety features are only available on upper trims, but buyers have still found plenty to recommend the Rogue.
All trims of the 2017 Nissan Rogue receive a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is better than most in the class. A front-wheel-drive Rogue achieves 29 mpg combined (26 city/33 highway) while an all-wheel-drive model drops to 27 mph combined. New for 2017 is the Nissan Rogue Hybrid, which returns 34 mpg combined (33 city/35 highway) with front-wheel drive — the AWD hybrid has a minor 1 mpg combined penalty.
The Rogue is available in three trim levels: S, SV and SL. Each is competitively equipped and priced, and you should find its available features list to be equally robust as those of its rivals. One possible exception would be in the area of advanced safety features, which are split up depending on trim level with certain important features such as lane departure warning and forward collision automatic braking available only as an option on the SL.
Other optional upgrades include remote ignition, dual-zone climate control, a surround-view camera system, Siri Eyes Free and a Bose audio system. Roof rails and a hands-free power liftgate are helpful practical upgrades. Buyers living in colder climates will appreciate the optional heated seats and steering wheel, as well as the heated side mirrors. The Rogue is also capable of light off-roading, thanks to a locking center differential and hill descent control on the AWD trims.
A great many people have decided to take a Rogue home; good fuel efficiency and a comfortable ride coupled with the practicality of an SUV make for an appealing package. Edmunds can help you figure out which 2017 Nissan Rogue is right for you and help make sure you get the best price.
