Don't purchase this vehicle

I owned this car for some time. I keep it mechanical. Two things. The comfort of this car is the worst I have ever felt. You feel every hole. I had to bring this car to the mechanic every other week to check the front end. Second, this is the worst car in the snow and ice. You slide all over and is very dangerous. Since 1993, the only problem I had is the fuel pump. Its reliabile, but don't buy this car.

The 93 Coug

I bought my Cougar in 1998 and drove it until 2004. I really liked this car and would recommend it, however it was not trouble free. The head gaskets blew in jan 01 - $1200 to repair. Driver's side door window motor stopped working twice - $300 each time to fix. The doors are heavy and the weight of the door caused the pins to bend, making it almost impossible to close the door. I had to start having passengers climb in and out of the passenger side window. The rear wheel drive is a major problem in winter - lots of fishtailing and difficulty getting up hills.

1990 Mercury Cougar LS 2dr Coupe

I accually have a red LS and a black XR7. Both are 1989 models which are the same as 1990 models. I bought the LS new and it has been a great car. It has 133000 miles on it and is going strong. I just bought the XR7. It only has 45000 miles on it and is great condition. The 89 and 90 cougars are my personal favorite looking cars and run great too. If you find a good used one BUY it.

I bought my 90 Cougar on Christmas Eve of 1992 from my local Mercury dealership. The original owner bought it new, she bought a new cougar every 2 years, I was 17 at the time. Have all records from her, she had all work done at the dealership. Have had only 1 problem and that was a head gasket went out after 189,000 miles. New engine was the fix, runs great

Great Little Cougar

I purchased this car used at 4 years old. Drives like a dream in the summer, bad in winter for slipping around! Only have had 2 major repairs and 1 minor repair since I've owned the car in 12 years; as others have stated, it blew the head gaskets (after the recall expired), a window motor on the driver side door failed, and the air conditioner failed. Paint has deteriorated after 16 years but the Cougar has been a great little classy ride. I'm just getting ready to trade now.
