Sprinter View lack of customer care

Loss of power issue has not been diagnosed and solved despite 12 days (so far) in Sprinter shop over two year period. Mercedes “customer care” will not help us with out of pocket expenses due to trip interruption in spite of their inability to fix what they build. This is a serious safety issue, but that makes no difference to them. These vehicles are over-engineered, with 40 computers (they said), providing abundant opportunities for failure. My biggest complaint is the total lack of empathy by MB. My advice is to avoid Benz products altogether unless you are willing to work on them yourself, and if so, good luck!

What a difference a over last generation

I had a 14 (lemon) and 15 (rear air issues). The 12 passenger option is gone for the 170. It is now a 15 pax. Would have preferred the 12 version so i could get more cargo room, but with 10 grandkids now, the 15 pax is probably better. Maintenance cost can be scary but I prebought this time. The interior redesign is outstanding. The driver and front passenger upgraded seats are worth it. GREAT THIGH SUPPORT. The engine is okay with the 7 speed and has better acceleration than previous version. The absence of the 4 cylinder this year is disappointing. On the 2015 with the 4cyl i got mid 20s sometimes. I got around 18 mpg on the road with the 2019. Hoping for low 20s when broken in more. Rear redesign for seats is great as well. I am hoping no rear issues like previous generation. Got rid of 2018 Transit 350 HD. Ford wouldn’t fix issues with van and wouldn’t buy back. Mercedes is well worth the extra cost over Ford. Steer clear of other makes. The Sprinter is the way to go. One drawback this year are color choices and options. Factory basically put out two colors Jet Black or Arctic White and two options packages 67K or 58K. Go for the higher optioned one it is worth it.

Dangerous on Highway - Rear wheel locks up.

Bought used 2019 Sprinter Cargo Extended and had problems from day 1, first the EGR valve was malfunctioning but the worst issue is the driver side rear wheel locks up for approximately 1 second while driving, especially while driving at high speeds full or empty. Took to Mercedes service, was told the brakes need to be changed although when I bought 5 months ago the truck had new back brakes, anyway I agreed to have the rear brakes changed if this would solve the problem but it did not help, the problem did not go away. Took to Mercedes service again today and left with them to resolve this problem. I made it very clear that this is a serious problem and Mercedes needs to fix this problem or I can end up in a serious accident especially since I drive on the highway a lot. I am tempted to sell this van but I really do not want to pass on this serious problem to an unsuspecting buyer.

I drove my brand new 2020 4*4 High Roof Sprinter from MD to CO in early April. I left MD and the van had 47 miles on it.. brand spankin' new.. experienced torrential downpour while traveling through the Midwest.. as I drive into KS, suddenly 'DO NOT SHIFT GEARS - SERVICE REQUIRED' populates on the dash. I pull over at a Shell station in Oakley, KS and fill the tank.. the van won't start and won't go back from P to DRIVE. I had to get a 265 mile tow to the Littleton, CO Benz dealership (the van had about 1300 TOTAL miles on it) - an absolute nightmare scenario. I cancelled my van build and sold the stupid van back to Benz.. NEVER AGAIN.
