ML500 - Excellent buy

Bought used with 25,000 km. Great deal, had depreciated a lot and bought it through a broker - Royalty Auto for $42k CDN. Great experience. Had it for 6 months now. Needed winter tires (we're in Calgary) and it handles well in the snow. No maintenance issues so far. I am not using a dealer for the maintenance, prices much better. We have 2 large dogs and a new house and have hauled lots of stuff with no problems. The versatility of the rear seats is excellent. The 5litre engine has plenty of power and a good roar, but gas use isn't as terrible as I'd expected. Had it inspected by 3rd party before I bought. Brakes squeak when cold

Terrific SUV that has shown zero quality issues other than the brakes squealing in cold weather.

I own an SL500 and was impressed with the quality and craftmanship so when I need and SUV the ML was a logical choice. That is what I used to think. This think has been in the for service 6 times for electrical and cosmetic issues. My SL never has been so I am not unreasonable or a motor head that covers it etc... Overall do not buy this car for the money you can have an BMW X-5 with out the headaches!

Much better than a minivan.

Needed all wheel drive and 3rd row of seats. The small turning circle diameter is great. This was the best handling and most nimble suv we drove. The interier hardware is fragile and we have replaced rear cupholders/vents 5 times (all under warranty). The moonroof had broken twice and the power steering feels underboosted when making sharp u-turns. The accelerator pedal is s-l-o-w to inputs. Our dealership does not have enough loaner cars. Our local BMW dealership is much more responsive but X-5 does not have 3rd row of seats. We tow a boat with this and it works much better than our Tundra pickup truck for towing.

My 3rd ML after a 98, 2000. This is it! All bugs fixed, hardly goes to the dealer for any problems. Best part is the free Service for the warranty period. If people buying a cheaper fors or GM would add the service cost they would find it cheaper to own an ML and safer too. Advice; Don't miss the convenience option, I love the lights under the rearview mirror, and the folding outside mirrors
