Transmission Blew Out in 12 Months
I should have heeded the advise of a colleague who warned about serious quality issues with Mercedes brand. Transmission of my new 2023 GLS blew out completely without any warnings in exactly 12 months, leaving me and my wife stranded in the middle of a busy street. They had to order a new transmission and took a total of 3 weeks to get the car back. While it didn't cost anything out of pocket thanks to factory warranty, this is not what I had expected from a $100k MB which at one point used to be synonymous with "high quality and reliability". I am going back to BMWs (I have owned 3 of them for a total of 15+ years) or Audi (owned 1, for a total of 6 years).

Nothing but problems
We purchased a 2024 GLS 450 six months ago. There is wind noise while driving that sounds like a swarm of bees in the headliner, the transmission is very jerky on downshifts (it feels like you have spiked the brake), the check surrounding sensors go off all the time in traffic, the lane assist sees tar strips and old line paint in construction zones and wants to force you into other lanes or the old non existent roadway, the seat settings and temperature control settings do not stay programmed when you turn off the SUV. All of these items are annoying and some are safety issues. What does Mercedes say? The SUV is performing as engineered, this is Mercedes Quality. This is the most disappointing $105,000 vehicle there is and the dealer is not interested in fixing it.

Do NOT buy a GLS450 - The Worst!!!
The GLS450 2023 just suddenly stalls while driving - loses all power - they don't know how to fix. It stalled out twice on consecutive days in first week of ownership! Nearly killed us - going to try BMW X7. We had a previous 2020 GLS450 that did the same thing 10-12 times a year and they never were able to fix it. The GLS is still the worst and most dangerous SUV’s we have ever owned! The 2024 BMW X7 is amazing - smooth, quiet, reliable, powerful and amazing gas mileage (surprisingly) averaging 27mpg! - if you drive or try a new X7 you will never consider a Mercedes again for a SUV

It's a nice car but it's not perfect.
The gls 450 is slow to pick up speed from a stop. It's quite noisy on uneven surface. It's bouncy on bumpy roads. Lot of tire noise coming into the cabin. The only time I get to enjoy the car is when it is on a smooth road.

Quickest Breakdown Ever
I purchased a new 2024 Mercedes GLS 450 over two weeks ago from a local dealer. Drove it 2 miles and the engine warning light and the hybrid/starter/generator light both came on. The manual said take to the "work shop" so I took it right back to the dealers service department. The engine warning was faulty air intake manifold which requires parts from Mercedes and they don't have them all. The hybrid issue can't be assessed because the car won't start until the manifold's repaired. No idea when the car will be fixed. If I had it to do over again, I'd steer clear of a Mercedes Benz. Buyer beware...
