Good, but a few things keeping it from great

First time Lincoln driver; leased a 2020 Reserve in February after 8 years with BMW as an X7 was way out of my price range and I wanted a 3rd row, even if it is a bit small. At this point, I'm 7 months and 5k miles in, so enough to get a flavor for the vehicle. In short, leasing it is a great idea, but not sure I'd suggest buying due to some of the glitches and shortcomings. Some highs and lows: Positive: I'm 6'5" 290 - not exactly a small person. I have a 12, 10 and 3 year old. We all fit (car seat behind me) with room to spare (my wife alternatively is 5'3" so not taking up a ton of leg room!). While the 3rd row is smallish, my 12 year old can sit behind the 10 year old without much complaining. Negative: We sat in the Black Label and the 30 way seat sits way too high without enough head room, even on the lowest setting, which is part of what drove me to the Reserve. The Reserve seat give you a ton more head space. It does "sit" like a sportier seat with side bolsters, but coming from BMW, it's a very familiar feel (my dad and father-in-law don't like it, but I really do). HOWEVER, the leg support is awful. In 8 months driving around town, I never noticed this, but we did a COVID-induced 15 hour drive form Chicago to NY to avoid flying and my legs were numb and killing me. That alone makes me second-guess the brand. Positive: The engine is massive; even with the size and weight of the vehicle, it feels quick. City mileage is mediocre as expected but still got mid-20s on the Chicago to NY and back drive, which is respectable. Positive: The styling is beautiful - no regrets there - and the tech, in my vehicle, has been flawless so far. Sensors and cameras are amazing; adaptive cruise and lane hold are fantastic. Navigation is good (although annoying you can't type it in while driving) and the phone app is also quite good (you can lock, unlock and start your car with an app on your phone). Positive: Storage is ample. Glove box and console are great, cup holders are good, trunk space under the floor is a nice bonus. Negative: Finish quality is already showing to be lacking, as well as some design attention to detail. In the last 7 days, both passenger side doors stopped opening from the inside. The doors have an electronic push button and both have failed, so we either roll down the windows to open the door or the driver goes around to let people out. Clearly this is not safe. The driver door has a pull latch so I could get out in case of emergency, but none of the other doors have this. This is a BIG problem and bad design. To get a loaner, I'm waiting about 5 days to bring the car in which isn't unreasonable, but we'll see how the repair goes. Such an important thing failing this quick makes me nervous about the long-term. Staying in the design theme area, the second row has captains seats (very comfortable - I can "sit behind myself" if that makes sense) and there are cupholders in the floor. That can't be removed. 3 kids, cupholders in the floor that you can't remove. Bad idea. Oh, and the second row seat doesn't really slide forward enough to get in and out of the third row any more easily than by climbing between the captains seats.. over the cupholders.. in the floor.. that can't be removed to clean. Just a bad, family unfriendly design there. Overall, yeah, 4 out of 5. For me to drive around town, it's a 5. Take a few guys to play golf, it's a 5. Take kids to soccer or basketball, it's a 5. For a 5-6 hours road trip, it's a 5. But for some of the part failures and design shortcomings, a 4 at best. And for the lack of comfort on a long road trip, a 4 at best. Do I regret leasing it? Not at all. For 36 months, pretty sure I'll be content and by that point, as the kids are bigger, we'll need to do something else anyway. Would I buy one for $70k expecting it to be a 10 year vehicle? Absolutely no - don't bank on that as my guess is it'll turn into a money pit.

Another Lemon from Lincoln

Rear camera didn’t work 1-2 weeks after purchase Lincoln Aviator. Lincoln had no idea how to fix First software then rear camera replaced then another part replaced then software rebooted then Ford engineers wrote new software program So camera would work and warning that headlights would not work ( not true) would shut off. Finally bought American after 20 years . Big mistake Lincoln manufacturing said car didn’t qualify for Lemon law but refused to say why. If it breaks again will hire lawyer. Stay away. Not worth the hassle

Overall it's not bad but truly the paint quality is far below average for the black label...(orange peel and defects UNDER the paint) .. Auto stop feature ..trailer sway and traction control CAN NOT be over ridden and have to be stopped every time vehicle is started ..gas mileage is no better than my previous Escalade...overall after owning one for basically a.month ..it's not worth the 80k price tag ...

Lease over, nightmare over. Now I am over 2 years with the vehicle and cannot wait tilt he lease is up - still another year....ugh. I have given up getting frustrated. I made a mistake and wont do it again. I am very picky - no rattles, no little things that break (that should not) - moon roof screw loose for the 4th time...Again, the vehicle looks great, have many awesome features but too many fit and finish issues for my blood. Update-a year later still lots of little issues that just should not be the case with a luxury brand. Vibration at 40mph still exists. Lincoln really had the right idea with the vehicle but quality is lacking and their ability to make things right has been challengin. This review is really for BMW, Audi, and MB owners mostly. I myself have owned BMW and Audi but prefer Audi. I really wanted to try an American car again and since I have multiple grandkids I wanted a vehicle large enough to carry them while also maintaining my luxury desire. Lincoln did everything right on paper, but in reality it is still a Ford/Lincoln. In less than a year I will be sending it back to the shop for the third time. Most annoying is all the rattles that continue to develop. I get rid of one and two more show up. This "fit and finish" stuff is much better on true luxury vehicles. I really wanted to be happy as the technology in the Aviator is outstanding. An example of fit and finish even with the Tech. I am 6 foot 2 and have the heads up display. However, the adjustments on the heads up display will not let me move it down far enough so the top of the display is not cut off. My wife is 5 foot 8 and the display is directly in her view. I am not sure who they made the car for but this is a simple thing for a luxury vehicle. As MANY reviews have said, if you are a BIG person you should stay away. The seats are really terrible for a big person. Yes there are lots of adjustments but I have had the vehicle for 9 months and still have not found a comfortable set of settings. Most people say it is fine for 30 minutes to an hour but I say 10 to 15 minutes. While I have not had any incidents the hood appears to be loose while driving. I am quite sure it is not lose but the fact that it appears to be on the brink of opening is a poor design. The car does tend to vibrate quite a bit. You really have to be at high speeds to get some what of a smooth ride. Probably should not have expected a smooth ride on a truck but for the price they ask you to pay it should be better than it is. Again I really wished I could give the vehicle my full recommendation but anyone with BMW, Audi or Mercedes will be wildly disappointed. Ford is a Ford and that is fine but Ford/Lincoln is not really competing with luxury brands. Two people asked me how I liked it in the last 2 weeks and I don’t have to tell you what I had to say. Got another one today which is what prompted me to go ahead and write a review.

Ford/Lincoln Strike 3 You're Out!

Glitchy and really uncomfortable for a long trip. Since the day we bought this vehicle it makes noises all the time. Sometimes (every hour or 2) while I'm in the garage you hear these weird noises (clicking and hissing). then when I'm driving the center screen and wheel control electronics will not work and many check lights turn on. we were on a road trip and about 2 out of the 5 days the co pilot 360, speed distance control, regular cruise control, gps nav etc did not work. it was like driving a 70's car all over. When we took it to the dealership the standard response was "we could not duplicate the problem but we made a software update that should take are of the issue". (even after showing several videos we took to show). still to this date we regularly have no GPS, or a very slow responding vehicle. sometimes the car still takes 10-15 min to start the electronics for you to punch in your directions. in town by that time Siri already got me to the destination. the continues noises of the vehicle parked still continues . as to a long trip we got the massaging seats. these seats Suck!! 6'1" and 240 lbs my wife is 5'7 160lbs and after 1.5 hours we have have to stop and walk from the pain. You can feel all of the mechanisms under the 1" padding and I try to sin in different angles which is hard to find any spot to move into since the seats are like sport car seats (it ok for about 30-60 min). Dealer ship support is the worst of any deanship that I have had. parison are VW, Audi, BMW, MB, Ram, Jeep, Nissan. To get so low in customer service is just ridiculous. This is my 3rd time over 20 years buying a FORD product. The firs 2 were pickups 1 in 1996 and another in 2003, and then I said never a FORD again! Both vehicles I got rid of in 11 months and 18 months consecutively! the first I send over 8 months in the shop in the 11 months of ownership. This time I though its been almost 20 years lets give it another shot especially since I really like the looks and all the features, large engine, good towing capacity etc. What a mistake it has been. Don't be fooled but this vehicle sucks!. Look elsewhere! This vehicle stickers out to about 67K. Reserve model. with copilot 360, pano roof, package 2 with automated cruise control, Rear bench seat (seats real real real uncomfortable and no space, middle seat is good for a 4 year old (my kids are 9 and 12and don't fit)). This SUV was a rush job and it shows when you buy it!
