Well done vehicle - minor nitpicks

2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve 4dr SUV AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

The vehicle is quiet, smooth and surprisingly fast/agile for a vehicle it's size and price point. I bought a Reserve II w/ the convenience package and Dynamic handling package. The pixel adaptive headlights are awesome. The infotainment system is not as flashy as some competitors (ex: 2020 GLE / 2019 X5), but it is effective and simple to use. It is not loaded up with gimmicky features that are more shiny than helpful (looking at you BMW gesture controls). You also simply can't touch the audio quality of the Revel 28 speaker system in the same price range with the MB / BMW alternatives. I found if you priced out comparable features in the MB and BMW the Lincoln was significantly cheaper. Size wise it kind of hit a sweet spot for me as I wanted a little more cargo/passenger space than the X5, but didn't want a vehicle as big as the X7. Issues: Gas Mileage: I didn't buy the hybrid, but I expected better. I've driven 1000 miles of mixed City/Highway driving (roughly 50/50) and gotten nowhere near the EPA combined. Driving with a light foot I can get 16.8 mpg w/ 93 octane fuel. I will probably bring this to the dealer's attention soon in case it is a mechanical issue of some sort. I mean... I'm not driving uphill both ways to work. Bluetooth Audio Lag: Lincoln Sync 3.7 - connected via Bluetooth to a Samsung S8+ phone is showing noticeable (2 seconds+ audio lag). Did Lincoln not spring for apt-x low latency codecs in a vehicle of this class?. Connected via USB there is still a tiny bit of audio delay, but it is small enough that I'm willing to chalk it up to the digital music processing in the Revel audio system. 30-way perfect position seats: They are comfy, but Edmunds is right... it takes a lot of tweaking to match the seat to your build. They are downright uncomfortable for a big/tall guy until you spend significant time adjusting. Overall, I'm very happy with the vehicle and really couldn't bring myself to drop a star. I would give it a 4.7 out of 5. The Lincoln dealership staff were also very helpful and responsive.

2020 Lincoln Aviator Black Label 4dr SUV AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

Have had our Aviator Black Label for about 3 months and it’s the best riding SUV I’ve been in out of driving just about every one out there. Lincoln engineers did their homework. We looked at others like the new 2020 Benz GLE 450 and BMW X5. The Aviator offered just as much for less money plus a smoother ride quality. Overall the performance is decent and is very enjoyable and comfy on long trips. The interior is unique and you can tell they were not copying anyone. The 30 way seats take a little to find the right position but once you find it you save it in memory. They are awesome, so are the massage functions. As far as looks, probably the best looking suv of it’s kind out right now in my opinion and many people who stop me and comment on the vehicle. Quality seems good so far but time will tell the real story.

2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve 4dr SUV AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

Beautiful vehicle with all the latest tech, but quality problems galore. Day 1 the horn didn't work and there was a lot of knocking sounds in the suspension. Then a month later, we couldn't get out of the rear passenger side door anymore and the rear hatch would not open intermittently. Then things got worse. Several times we got multiple faults come up on the screen and the car wouldn't go over a certain speed. The final straw was when a loud noise started around 50mph and wouldn't go away. Lincoln purchased the car back from me. What a shame, because we loved the car before the problems.

We went into our vehicle search thinking we would be buying Lexus, Mercedes or BMW and we tested them and several models of them as well as Audi, Volvo, Land Rover and others. To be fair each were really nice vehicles and not major complaints about any of them and they each had their pros and cons and unique selling propositions or features maybe the others didn't have, but... the Aviator stood out very early on. We also rented Land Rovers, MBs, BMWs on various trips we made over the last 12 months ensuring we had a few days with the models we were considering and still the Aviator kept coming back ahead of the others. We have the Aviator Reserve AWD with all options except the rear entertainment so the Dynamic Handling, Luxury Package, Convenience Package, etc. including front and rear heated and cooled seats, 28 speaker sound system, heads up display, dynamic handling with rising and lowering of the vehicle on entry and speed dependent, etc. All these features in the Aviator in the MB GLS or BMW X5 or X7 would be at least 25K to 30K more and while those vehicles are really really nice it just came down to would I pay another 25K essentially to have a BMW or MB? For us we decided the extra $ was not worth having what is a more trendy or prestigious brand. If the price was equal between the 3 would we have selected the Aviator? Hard to say. My wife personally did not like the drive of the MB or BMW and likes the Lincoln more (it is more luxurious feeling and drives a bit softer). Personally I probably would have gone with the GLS 8cyl if the prices were the same, but now having driven the Aviator quite a bit I admit it would be very tough with a slight edge to the GLS based on performance (they both accelerator very similar, but the MB does handle better IMO and the MB is just slightly quicker) but the features of the Aviator to be are better. The HUD is the best I have ever seen. The SYNC software is far superior to the MB or BMW UI and features. I do get asked why we went with the loaded Reserve AWD vs the Black Label... 1) price vs features is about 10K less and BL has no additional meaningful features, 2) didn't care for the color combos and limited colors... why would the more expensive option vehicle have less choices? Wouldn't you offer more choices in addition to the standards? 3) the BL service features made no sense to us for the additional $. With the reserve we have now we get full concierge services, pick up and drop off of vehicle for all services, all routine and scheduled maintenance package prepaid for life of lease, etc.

New buyer here of the aviator - it’s as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. A lot of thought went into this vehicle It s very evident the moment you slip inside. You feel like you are in a cock pit and everything is right there for you The ergonomics are great. It feels like a luxury vehicle. I upgraded and got the good sound system. Totally worth it It is superior against anything I have ever heard in a car. The computer interface I was worried about. Took a day and got it down. Very straight forward and intuitive The drive is great. The excite mode throws you back into the seat !!!! And the cabin is nice and quiet Only 2 gripes : I wish the local mpg was better ( but the highway mpg is good ) and the third row is smallish ( but you have that much more storage space in the back). No regrets so far with this purchase It’s a beautiful vehicle
