smart cruise breaking
I had owned this vesicle during a couple of months. Two weeks ago I totaled it by accident. I was using smart cruise to the home at freeway. A car suddenly changed the lane to my lane, therefore my front car could't stop and hit the car. I expected full stop of my lexus but failed to make stop before crush. I was really surprised because the smart cruise maintained enough distance from the front car according to my driving experience with honda pilot (which is bigger non-luxury SUV). After accident (I regret this!!!), I researched that even Lexus RX 350 have bad stopping distance than other luxury cars. Now I know that Lexus RX 450h is much heavier (300-500 pounds) than RX 350. I am suspicious that RX 450h /RX 350 may have different break systems. Good luck with the owners of Lexus RX 450h.

Crossbar blocks the cargo space
An apparently unremovable metal bar blocks the cargo space of the 2019 RX 450h. I can put things below the bar or above the bar. But nothing big can fit in this cargo space.

Beware: Useless Navigation System without Carplay
Used old Gen09 Navigation System (Can't be upgraded to Gen10 even you want to pay) and not eligible for Carplay upgrade. Make this car useless for daily commute without real time traffics. BTW, Lexus has no plan to make it right for the owners even with the resource and technical know-how. So you are stuck with this for as long as you own this model.

Wouldn’t buy again
Bottom line: This car has many positives, but we never would buy again because the extremely raked front windshield causes two big problems. 1st, go for a test ride in the morning or evening going into the sun. On an even moderately warm day, the huge windshield creates an effect like sitting in a glass hothouse with a small AC unit blowing cold air on you-the air feels good, but your entire torso is being blasted by the sun. 2nd, the wide slanted pillars block pedestrians & side traffic to a dangerous extent. Another disqualifying feature is the engine. Why would anyone make a hybrid car that requires premium gas? Isn’t the idea to lower gas prices? I’ve read the reviews that say premium only costs 10c more. Not sure where they live-in CA it’s 40c. Most other positive attributes you’ve read are true. Great seats, sound system, awd, etc. They’ve done a great job of silencing the egg-beater engine. Sad to say, despite being a tech guy, I like the elegant tech interface.
